    Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)

Not too terribly far into the game yet, but I'm enjoying what I've played so far... definitely a mix of Heavy Rain and GTA, like everyone else has stated (although Heavy Rain was a better game... so far anyway).

I can pretty safely say this won't be my game of the year, and I'm definitely not as wowed or immersed as I was the first time I played Red Dead (or even the second time I played Red Dead for that matter), and while the facial animations are pretty damn cool, I feel the rest of the graphics took a bit of a hit in making those happen. I still think that Red Dead, Uncharted, etc, look a lot better, and I will honestly take those overall graphical packages over cool facial animations any day.

Again though, I'm not at all regretting picking this up. It's definitely addicting, and solving the crimes, etc, is super cool. Chalk up another great effort from Rockstar and company... it's just, IMO, not quite as good as some of their other games.

Oh, and this in no way affects my feelings for the game, but the driving (handling) sucks, lol.

I am absolutely loving Cole's backstory, by the way. It's very intriguing, and I hope it gets referenced more often in the main story.

This game is utterly amazing and the facial animations alone are worth the ride. I cant wait to get home later to continue playing. I only played for an hour, so that wasn't much time to really feel this game.
PS3.... it really didn't kill me because I haven't really gamed at all the last 2 months, had netflix withdrawal but thats about it.

            Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)

I knew what I was getting in to with this game - not a lot of action, but I was hoping the detective part of the game would be more varied and challenging. Picking up clues requires no abililty, which is fine in a sense if you then had to actually do something with those clues to connect them to the crime scene. All that work is done for you for the most part. I enjoyed the first few cases where you had to track down the gun owners, but since then all the work involved in solving cases has felt the same.

The only real hard part of the game is deciding if you have the evidence and the facial tell to call someone a liar. Other than that there hasn't been a lot of thinking involved. I'm only through the first disc though, so maybe the cases will ramp up in difficulty or evolve away from the same formula.

Like I said in my previous post though, even with what I'm complaining about, I still like the story and enjoy playing detective. I just wish there was more to do and cases evolved more organically.

                              OH MY FREAKIN' GOODNESS!

I think i'm legitimately addicted to this game. I went to play some more of the game at about 1:30 AM time thinking i'd just play a little well I ended up playing until 5:30 in the morning! This game is like a really good movie that I just don't want to turn off. I haven't even touched the street cases yet! I figure i'll complete the main story then go back on some cases and drive around until street cases pop up and play them all in one shot then.

So um....I hope they release a ton of DLC for this but hopefully after a couple or so months so I can get my act together and buy MS points. This game is definitely not GTA but that's ok because it's a game that takes you though the progression of Phelps' career and some pretty grisly cases.

I'm definitely going to go back and play one case in particular because

I finally had to hit the hay in the midst of the Silk Stocking Murder case and I didn't really want to but I needed sleep!

Cole Phelps is an interesting guy. I don't know if this is spoilers but it might make people look at him a bit differently once I say this so i'll put it in spoilers to be on the safe side:

                              Spoiler

So again, the facial animations and acting is top notch. I really really liked the owner of the La Bamba Club. Whoever did the acting for that guy really did a bang up job! I'll have to play that one case again just to hear him talk. Some of the other characters are just so authentic that you forget you're playing a video game.

So, i'm majorly impressed and love this game to bits. Rockstar is going to have to work with Team Bondi or ask another developer within their family to take a crack at games of this kind.

My only complaint tho it's not a real big one is that for a guy like me I wish they had a GPS for the driving! I understand why they don't but man it makes driving for me a pain in the butt!

This game has really exceeded my expectations and i'm going to limit myself a bit so I don't finish it in less then 2 weeks.

Asked this before, and got no answer. For someone like myself who likes to install their games to the HDD on the 360, do you need to install all three seperate game discs, or could you install disc one, then disc two when you are prompted to install it, and un-install disc one at that point?

Also, what's the total playtime this game will give you?
