The review sounds perfect. I don't want a GTA game. This sounds even better than I could have imagined. Can't wait.

So, here's some to help you out. I didn't get a chance to play a lot today, but I did play maybe 2-3 hours.

First off, the game is gorgeous as FW said. The city really looks cool. In the opening cinematic I saw one graphical hiccup but since then the game has run smooth. Not noticing any pop in/out issues on 360.

This isn't your typical Rockstar game. The gameplay speed is slowed down from typical GTA games like I tweeted earlier. It still has gameplay elements typical to Rockstar games though, such as driving to missions/objectives, chases/pursuits (both on foot and in car) and gunplay.

It has the "Skip to destination" option when travelling around the city like GTA IV had in the taxi. You can either drive there yourself or let your partner drive if you'd prefer not to. The city is huge. It does take some time to navigate around. Sometimes when driving you can choose to help out other officers in distress. This is how most of my side story missions have started. These can take some time to get to, but it's a beautiful city so you won't get too bored driving around.

When it comes to the cases, I've had a good variety of them so far. Each one starts with it's own little movie done in "Noire" style to help introduce you to the case. When interviewing people or canvasing a crime scene you really have to pay attention to details. Most of the scenes can be pretty big and if you overlook a piece of evidence you will probably have a harder time solving the case. To find evidence or clues you walk around the scene and when the music chimes or the controller vibrates you take a closer look to the area you're in.

If that part of the game sounds overwhelming, don't fear. The game tracks clues, locations, and witnesses in a notebook you can access at any time. It really helps you keep things straight when questioning people or trying to figure out what the next step is.

At the end of the case you're graded on your performance. They take into account how many clues you found, how many questions you asked correctly, and the damages you caused the PD and the community. You're charged damages for wrecking cars or hitting pedestrians while responding to scenes, etc.

Now onto my thoughts. The game is FUN. If you enjoy watching CSI, Criminal Minds, or other police dramas, you'll probably like this game. If you're a fan of Noire Movies you'll probably enjoy this game also.

This game is not your typical Rockstar game. It's not Fast Paced, there's no over the top gunplay or explosions, and you can't just go beating the crap out of people to try to solve cases. You have to use your head and be respectful of people if you want their help/cooperation.

So far I'm enjoying this game. It's beautiful, it's fun, and it's different. I can see myself playing these cases over and over again trying to find different clues I may have looked over the first time through.

If you guys have questions, I can try to answer them if I'm around later tonight. Until then I hope these impressions help feed your hunger.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write this up. I have been dying to hear about it.

How are you guys reading all of the information these dudes are posting???? You gotta have some willpower and keep the game as fresh as possible when you get it.

I'm out of this thread for the next 3 days. Have yet to read anything about the game.

It's not like they're really spoiling anything.

If they were telling us exact scenes/moments from the game, then yeah I see your point, but they aren't.

Thanks for the impressions. With both the controller and music giving you cues to look for clues, and the notebook autosaving information, do you find it to be too easy?

I'm excited for this one. I have it paid in full at Gamestop and will be picking it up during their midnight release Monday.

Right. I'm trying to keep things as general as possible. But I understand some people's need to have everything "Fresh" for them.

If you guys prefer, I'll spoiler tag my impressions from now on. They won't give away any spoilers, but might make it easier for some. I guess it's up to you guys as to what you think is needed.

No, it's fine IMO. You're not posting spoilers, you're just giving a general outline of how the game plays.

If people don't want to read that then they should unsubscribe.

Naw, I think spoiler tags should be used for actual spoilers. I already get annoyed (especially in the pro wrestling threads) when people post things like

                      Spoiler

Nine times out of ten I click on spoiler links because they usually aren't even spoilers, and end up screwing myself a lot. But there are always those rare instances where people use the tags to... you know... actually post spoilers. Anyways, I'll end my rant there. But with this game, as with my viewing of wrestling, tv shows, movies, etc. I like to be as spoiler free as possible. What you wrote was perfectly fine.

question, is it possible to turn off the music/vibration clues when you're near a piece of evidence? I thought I read somewhere that you could turn off that "intuition" feature.

And how would you rate the difficulty thus far? If you can turn off the hints, mind giving it a try and comparing the difficulty playing that way

It is possible to turn off both Controller Vibration and Audible Clues in the Options Menu.

I haven't given it a go without cues yet. I would image it would be difficult.
