So are the maps now available? I've had my system in another room and haven't been on live. Wasn't going to until the 2k8 patch or CoD maps were up.

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
So are these maps ever going to be free like the new Halo maps? I'm interested in playing them, but I don't think they're worth that much money.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
I noticed that while playing online. But, if someone is hosting a private room, they can be used with different game types. I was on with Sully earlier and we were playing Deathmatch on all of the new maps.XBL Gamertag: hoos4974

But, IMO, the Creek map is worth the price of admission all by itself. That map is by far the best COD4 map yet. I'm sure other may not think so, but the map is absolutely gorgeous. The lighting is phenominal and as a sniper, the vegetation is your friend.XBL Gamertag: hoos4974

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Time and time again it's the M40A3 by a landslide for me (they should have thought about making it unlocked instead of avail at the beginning. Mine is red-tiger stripped.
Now 2nd best is debateable, but As much as I love bolt-action riles more, In this game I'd take the trusty dragunov 2nd. It's got faster 'recoil-recovery'
That's the only real difference in the game between guns is the recoil action, and recovery. For example the Remmington 700 kicks upwards ALWAYS, but quite a bit - but you can recover quickly. I can't remember but The crappiest gun imo is the P21 (really just the scoped m14) it has very small kick, but in any direction and the recovery causes me to literally shoot circles around a target.
The barret ( omg omg lol) is middle for me, it's kick is fine, but the recovery is too slow for me. They all feel very different, but for me m40a3 is terrific, then the dragunov (even though i don't want it to be) I rack up the most kills with those. And never use the acog scope w/ those guns, it defeats the purpose.
Yeah I should have said in random ranked games. I figured in private matches it wouldn't matter.Comment

It'll be even better when they're added into the rotation with all the other maps too, instead of being separate like they are now.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
What perks do you use with snipers? I figured claymore and UAB jammer would be two good ones. Setup claymores around you incase someone tries to sneak up and the UAV of course to not show up. Not sure with the third, maybe the one where you can hold your breath for long?
Yeah I should have said in random ranked games. I figured in private matches it wouldn't matter.
I use 2 setups. One is claymore, stopping power, and deep impact
the other is claymore, overkill, and iron lung
Claymore's to a sniper is almost essential, even if they don't kill they tip you off. UAV jammer isn't good for a sniper imo since when you shoot you show up no matter what because snipers can't be silenced. Stopping power for regular team deathmatch i like because it's almost always 1 shot one kill ( alot of people use jugger). Deep impact is an asset on some maps where you see a lot of hands and guns, and guess where the rest is lol, or injure and they run behind cover and you just follow the rhythm.
the overkill set up is great because you have an effective close combat weapon ( i really like the ak74u and carbine) the hand gun is fine, but if someone is pumping a m60, you're toast. This is very important for harcore tdm since you no longer need overkill ever. Iron lung is not important to me, and I'm going to switch it, but not sure what yet. If you're going to get a lot of kills sniping you can't wait forever to shoot, you have to line up quickly..also when you run out of breath w/ iron lung your recticle goes far too wild. Don't wait to shoot too long and you're fine.
Claymores,....there are so many that think they are invisible - you can clearly see the red beams...so be clever and put them around corners, or places that when you see them it's too late. Don't stick them in the middle of a door way facing out where you can see it plain as day (although lots don't look down so you will still get kills).
Last, knowing the maps and tendencies is most important. Example; two best sniping positions on crash are the building starting point for terrorists by the ladder, and for marines is 3rd story where the chainlink fence is at the top. You have to look out for the other, but see lots of target for both. The key is knowing when to move too when you're out of claymores and the building is stormed etc..learn to hit those moving targets too by leading them. Also if you're in a sniping battle don't move while crouched too much because you look liek a bobbing duck through the scope.
one mroe thing..the beauty of overkill is that your second weapon can have an attachment that doesn't take up perk#1 so my ak74u is silenced or my carbine...and sometimes i make it red dot etc.. but sill have perk for claymores!Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
Wait. I thought with UAV you don't show up on the radar when you fire? So, you don't show up on Enemy UAV sweeps and thats it? I always thought you were off UAV completely with that perk on.

The last perk, I just use extreme conditioning to help me get from place to place quicker. None of the other yellow perks seemed to fit well with the sniper. Deep impact really isn't that important because the sniper's bullets go through pretty much any surface anyway. You could use iron lungs I guess, but I never need more than 4 seconds to take a shot on someone so I don't really need it.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Nope, only using silencers keeps you off the UAV when you fire.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
So what does UAV jammer do?
I see, the first and second sniper rifles I seem to have the best luck with.
I think overkill is a waste as well. Like someone else said, once the game starts there are weapons everywhere anyway.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 - Impressions
I'm guessing UAV Jammer doesn't display your position when the enemy calls in their UAV Radar sweep, which if that is the case I need to change all of my second perks other than my SMG with silencer.
