Yep. I asked my fiance's father because it was important to her and she thought it would be important to him. I didn't want to do it because it's a somewhat uncomfortable situation, but if it was important to them, I was game.

On a somewhat funny note....her younger sister's boyfriend didn't want to ask their father, but since I did, he felt forced to. I was there the night he did and he was shaking and a nervous wreck. Maybe because he asked after only 6 months of dating... Seemed a little fast to jump into a marriage proposal to me.
