Can't argue too much there. I know how great a game NHL is I just feel The Show does a better job captivating its sport. That's all.

As for FIFA, no idea... haven't played it.


Actually, reading your posts really makes me want to go out and buy a Wii. I'd love to try it as well as Super Paper Mario.

I actually tried finding one Friday. But NO luck... i tell ya it's gonna be a impulse buy whenever i actually SEE one

I was at a Best Buy one morning when they had a bunch in stock...

Held off on the impulse buy. It might be a bit more difficult next time.

When you have a game franchise like Mario, you look at every iteration and see how each version has outdone the previous one. Mario 64 is regarded as one of, if not the best game ever created. Super Mario Sunshine was not as great.

The amount of depth, polish, and creativity that is in Super Mario Galaxy is STUNNING. Especially when you factor in how the controller is used in certain situations. The structure and pacing that exists in this game is just beautiful. There's a reason there's only a Mario game once every generation, and that's because they invest EVERYTHING into making that single game the best game possible.

I am amazed at how awesome Super Mario Galaxy is. Anything that comes within breathing room of Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, Super Metroid, etc is a historic accomplishment.

Then again, this post probably won't have much of an effect on convincing people otherwise.

Thats the one thing about nintendo, you can almost guarantee that every console Mario, Zelda, and Metroid game will be a AAA title. Nintendo cant screw them up because they have so much of their own money at stake if these titles were bad.

The only problem I have when it comes to game of the year voting is the "Wow factor". I could sit down for 20-30 hours playing a Mario Game have a great time, or I can sit down and play COD4 and be completely wowed by the experience.

Dammit now I have the urge to go buy a WII.

I haven't played enough games to even speak on what the game of the year should be.

All I know is that it shouldn't be NCAA 2008.

After finishing Bioshock last night, that was really amazing. Never seen a story told so well in a video game.

I will make a bold statement the day before Mass Effect comes out. I say it will take GOTY. Bioshock may take most intriging shooter. Best multiplayer shooter will have to be COD4. Best new feature in shooter will be Halo 3 Forge and save film. Best sports game will be MLB the show. Cant think of anything else right now.

After finishing Bioshock last night, that was really amazing. Never seen a story told so well in a video game.

Bioshock is my #1 pick too, but the story in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is fantastic as well.

As far as Mass Effect, I have it pre-ordered and can't wait to play it. But can a game with (apparently) glaring technical issues really be GotY? I know it will get tons of support, but every review I have read so far says the frame rate constantly dips, there are clipping and collision detection problems and so on. They all say it needed more time for a polish, but I am sure they wanted it out for the holidays. I just think that GotY needs to consider everything, including technical issues.

Yes, KOTOR and Jade Empire won some GOTY awards. Oblivion did too and it had some major technical issues.

A game that huge is going to have technical issues, especially with all that goes on.

The reviews also say that the AI is braindead and that combat is poorly done. I tend to agree strongly with Eurogamer's ratings, and they've got AC at 7, ME at 8, COD 4 and Halo 3 and 9 and Bioshock at 10. I think that's about right.
