Re: Rainbow Six Vegas 2 discussion

Unfortunately online has been terrible for me so far. The only game I've been able to get into was laggy as hell, I was warping all over the map. After that it's been nothing but "game session is no longer available" messages.

Curse the PS3's online capabilities. Pretty much the only thing I miss about the 360.

Does this game have rumble? I have a Dualshock3 so I am just wondering.

I was finally able to get into a few games that were lag free. Just a shame it took hours just to get into a lag free one. I'm with you on that one about missing the 360 but theres no way I would go back. When the PS3 is lag free it is a thing of beauty. I am really enjoying RV62. Gameplay seems a little tighter. I also like having to switch to night vision in certain areas more often than the last.

Cool, glad to know that lag-free games are a possibility on the PS3. I was really getting frustrated earlier.

I've been having a blast just playing the terrorist hunts so far. If online play can get smoothed out, I can see myself playing this for a while. Not quite as good as COD 4, though, IMO.

            more 360 online impressions................

            - Graphics are on par with last year's game although it seems like
the character graphics are a bit better, IMO. Their faces still leave much to be desired

            - Kills are easier to come by than in Vegas 1 (a big plus)

            - As mentioned in a previous post, the host now has control over team assignments. He can set it to either host control or player control. There may be more to the host options but I wasn't hosting so I'm not sure.

            - There is a nice mix of maps available. Good close quarter maps and some that are more spread out with good sniping locations. One map in particular really stood out to me (forget the name) but it is a series of unfinished apartment buildings with partially built walls, 2x4 studs exposed and some drywalled. The ability to shoot through walls really comes into play on this map.

            - Joining a server while a game is in progress is a very nice addition. The host may have an option to shut this off but I don't know for sure.

            - I only played on one server but there didn't seem to be much lag if any. There were a few hiccups here or there but nothing to worry about.

            - The added ability to run was a little sketchy for me. You press the LB button to run but it seemed as though I had to press it more than once or twice to get my guy to run. It could be my controller acting up or not Not being able to run a few times when I needed to haul a$$ out of some serious gun fire got me killed more times than I care for. Again, maybe this was my controller.

There's more I could add but I'm at work.....will try to put more up later.

I have'nt played single player campaign yet. Only a few minutes of solo Terrorist Hunt which was also pretty similar to RB6V1

The 9.3 to 8.4 is kinda scaring me actually. Might move the preorder over.

If you're worried about the frame rate, I haven't seen one hiccup in about 4 or so hours of gameplay tonight. Online and offline. So I'm not sure what they were referring to.

I also played split screen with a buddy and haven't seen anything.

Hey Altimus, have you experienced any problems in getting your guy to run when first pressing the LB button?? This was a little hit and miss for me last night. Sometimes he would start to run immediately but for the most part I had to press the button 2 to 3 times before he'd run

If anybody owns both 360 and ps3 I don't understand why would anybody get this game for the ps3. Multiplayer is not one of Sony's strong points. I'm getting this game for the 360 tomorrow. To me it seems like mostly all games lag alot on the ps3. Hopefully this game is alot of fun like the last rb6.

I had a blast playing it earlier. Like I mentioned and others have confirmed, it plays alot like the first RB6 Vegas, but that's a good thing. There are some additions to the gameplay that were sorely needed.

Just being able to get quicker kills in this version has me giddy with joy ............. it's more realistic. There are times where you feel that you should have dropped someone and didn't but they are few and far between. More than likely, a brief period of lag is the culprit in that regard.

All in all, I like it better than the first Vegas.... A MUST BUY IMO !!! A good change of pace away from COD4

Nope, no problems for me offline or online. Although I haven't used the sprint option too much. Definitely not as much as COD.

Also just checked the PS3 boards and no one is having frame rate issues on the PS3 either. Weird that no gamers are reporting these issues IGN saw. I know I haven't in many hours spent with the game on the 360.

Also there is already a patch for the PS3. One big downer to the PS3 version though is a 3GB install.

Hmmm, could be time for a new controller maybe

I have another one at home, so I'll try it and see if it's any better. Although, this one was giving me problems recently with
MLB 2K8. It has some kind of problem with the right thumbstick because when pitching with the new pitching mechanic, my pitcher would automatically throw a pitch before I even moved the stick
