I'm a borderline scrub. Difference is, I know that the bridge between me and a quality player is called PRACTICE. Mr. Sirlin here just wrote an article that was literally anti-practice, anti-execution, anti-dexterity.

He missed the point of casual Street Fighter AND tourney level Street Fighter. Casuals can afford to make mistakes because they are only going to be punished by a roundhouse kick, or a simple 2-3 hit combo. In a tournament, you know that every mistake can potentially be punished by a 35-50% combo. So the emphasis on not making mistakes is heightened. The better the comp gets, the less you can afford to make mistakes.

The PPP, EX and two button throw commands are NEGLIGIBLE in execution. Why would you want to simplify something that is so damaging? That doesn't even make sense. One scrub wrote an article saying that throws are too easy, and another here is saying that they are too hard. WOW.

Part of the genius of Street Fighter is that it has execution available for every level of gamer. Basic, intermediate, advanced and elite gamers ALL have options. If you want to advance in the game, you have to earn it by improving your execution.

Hence easy to learn, difficult to master.

If anyone wnats to play later today hit me upon the ps3. I use Dhalism though. I have about 1800 BP's. I am fairly good with him. Finally started to climb in BP. Took me a good long while before i started to learn counters for the usual suspects you play online. Still have big time issues with a good Balrog player. His offensive pressure is just brutal at times.

They both have a point. Not sure who the first guy is but I'm sure he's referring to ease of grasp and throw priorities. That Guile throw video was pretty funny.

Sirlin is simply referring to button combinations over a simple one button+motion.

And calling Sirlin a scrub... wow... I won't even touch that one.

lol watch that video posted with Guile... and look at the great, minor things included in "other" fighting games released by Capcom this year that could make SF4 much better.

When I say scrub, I just mean someone who hasn't mastered SFIV at the elite level. So if Sirlin beats Gootecks, Wong, Daigo or Inoue, then fine. But right here right now, he's speaking for scrubs.

And both articles are wrong, ironically for the same reason. Two button throws allow you to counter throws. That STOPS them from being cheap or accidental. This is a huge improvement in the throw mechanic. The argument that two buttons is harder to execute than one button is ridiculous. I have not run into one person that had trouble executing a throw or even an ultra for that matter. PPP can be assigned to one button, so how is that harder than a super move?

Like 24th said...complaining to complain.

If they're going to talk about the lack of tournaments, rooms and spectator mode, that's perfectly valid. Two button throws? That's really stupid.

Same here, but i just kept at it with Sim. I eventually had a 20 game win streak. I am probably around 500 or so, but lately i been winning alot more then losing, but sometimes i will go into a mini slump.

All Dhalsim as well. Get tired of using Ken/Ryu/Akuma and Sagat.

Thanks to Mo, Sportsdude and Tmagic for helping me train up with Chun Li today. She's definitely better now than she was yesterday. I still can't use her Ultra for beans!

With Rufus, Guile and Chun Li, I'm almost totally off of Ken, but there are some things I need to practice with Ryu before I can drop him totally.
