ET for the Atari 2600. That game ticked me off to no end. I swear, I'm not sure if there was even a way to beat the game. I'd always fall down a little hold, and it was just too high for me to jump out of, and there I'd sit.

I get mad just sitting here thinking about it.

Rocket Knight Adventures for the Genesis. It just went on and on...

Battletoads, TMNT(NES), and Spiderman and the X-men (terrible game, and terribly hard). I also never beat Sonic and Knuckles.

You probably aren't playing with the right sliders.

My one game is Impossible Mission on the Commodore 64.

Re: What's the one game you could never beat?

If this is in reference to games one could not beat no matter how hard they tried, I've never come across that. If I wanted to beat the game, I'd set out to beat it and do it eventually. There are plenty of games I've started and never finished due to time constraints or eventual lack of interest due to a new game coming out or whatever. Some of the games on the NES and such I've played a few times (like Ghosts N Goblins) but never enough to go on a campaign to beat the thing. I still remember getting Rygar for my birthday one year. My cousin and I took turns playing it all day long until we beat it. Took less than 12 hours of constant playing. Ah, those were the days.

I can tell you I haven't finished any of the GTA games yet. Doesn't have anything to do with difficulty. I still own them and hope to play them as backwards compatible on my 360.

EDIT: I take most of this back. I saw someone mentioned E.T. which made another game pop into my head. I could never beat Raiders of the Lost Ark on Atari. There was a spot I could get to and just never get past because I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do next.

Umm, They showed on G4 a couple of years ago a guy did a speed run of this and beat it in 5 minutes.

TMNT, Back to the Future, BattleToads. Then some more obscure NES games like Milon's Secret Castle and Mighty Bomb Jack.

Also the orginal Pro Wrestling(NES), and the Kid Icarus without using the cheat codes was damn near impossible.

Contra with no code and Final Fantasy VII, as when I got to the last level I moronically saved over my file and I couldn't go back to build my levels anymore.

CoD3. I started playing on Hardened my first time and I just got annoyed by the long stretches between Checkpoints and the cheap deaths.

                        ET for atari
                        The Karate Kid for NES
                        Clash at Demonhead for NES
The Adventures of Bayou Billy for NES

Seriously, if you can beat any of these games, especially Bayou Billy.....straight up, wow. I know these are older games, but they were games that, as a kid, i would play for days on end and try over and over and over again.

The main reason why so many of those older games are hard is very few of them had any saves so if you wanted to finish it you would have to sit there for hours and go through them.

Im pretty positive that game lasted forever.
