According to the topic post at Gearbox's forums, the issue is being mailed to subscribers now and should appear at newsstands soonish. No exact time frame was given.

ah OK. I saw that topic at the Gearbox forums, but the issue says it's the April edition so I wasn't sure what to think.

I think the end I'll get this game either way, but I'd love for the multiplayer to be fun instead of just a tacked on addition. I spent a lot of my time in multiplayer, even if the game isn't top notch.

That said, I'll be disappointed if May 3 comes around and I don't have that ridiculous statue of Duke on my desk. Not having the game would be disappointing too, but only to a point given that one more development catastrophe for this game simply wouldn't shock myself or anyone else.
        This completely

What is everyone getting it on?
I have the Balls of Steel edition reserved on ps3 and pc because I couldn't decide which version I wanted. I'll probably end up going on PC, but it would be so cool to play Duke on the 42"

Getting the Balls of Steel Edition on the 360.

Depending on how fun I find the game, I may try to do some modding of the PC version later. I spent a ton of time modding Duke Nukem 3D, and honestly my experience modding that game is part of the reason I decided to pursue video games as a career. If DNF is as readily enjoyable and mod-able, I'm in for a treat, personally.

Notes on the OXM article regarding DNF multiplayer, as posted by KaizerSoze (a long-time member of the Duke Nukem community at 3D Realms / Gearbox):

            Here are the details!

            4 multiplayer modes:

            Dukematch
            Team Dukematch
            Capture the Babe
Hail to the King(king of the hill)

            Different Duke skin: red, blue....

            4 on 4 gameplay

Level advancement gained via XP..level cap is 42

Unlock physical customization rewards while leveling up in MP.

            10 maps total

            Old school gameplay.

"Highway Noon" torn up Vegas freeway
"Casino" two story casino with scattered launchpads)

Freezeray, shrinker, steroids, punching, jetpack, holoduke...

Mutators: infinite ammo, railguns only, heavy weapons, knuckle sandwich(fists only) and default shotguns.

            Plant trip mines on players

If shrunk during a match, you can still fire your weapons at normal sized player but you only have a 10th of power!

Capture the babe: ctf style gameplay....babe will "freak out" sometimes when carrying her.....hit a button to give her a reassuring "slap".

"Duke Burger" "magnificant map"....miniatured players running around in normal sized environment...fallen pots and pans, Duke standees and Duke action figures
..some ammo and weapons are placed inside microwaves and garbage
disposals. Other players can turn these on to kill you if you go
            in them.

"Morning Wood" Old west locale. crumbling buildings and planks connecting buildings...

Bonus objectives: goals like "Super Ninja" (kill a player while using holoduke) and "OMG" (Suicide via pipebomb)....these reward you with extra XP

Editors were able to play 3 hours of the game. Came away very impressed with both SP and MP. DNF "feels like a welcome burst of nostalgia-an old school shooter that's pure popcorn entertainment."
It was mentioned that level-up rewards are purely for cosmetic options, i.e. a lower-level player will still have access to all the game's weapons / powerups / maps / etc.

Me likey. Should have a different feel than Call of Duty and Bad Company, for sure; we'll see if it can match up to or - somehow - surpass those.

EDIT: apparently the article also describes a change to the Holoduke powerup, in that when active the user is temporarily invisible.

              I likey a lot.

I never really liked how people who had been playing call of duty longer than you had a distinct advantage not only in terms of experience and skill level, but in game mechanics as well.

That part really made me laugh.

I would love it if this had old school multi player as in everyone has the same weapons and abilities and all based on user skill. None of this levelling up crap. I can't stand the way multi player is nowadays. I still play Resistence 1 multiplayer because it is still old school and alot more fun for me.

^^^Why am I not surprised? At least the humor of the video helps with the disappointment.

I have a Best Buy rewards zone gift card that I was going to put towards the game, but it expires in mid-May. Guess I'll have to use it on something else.
