Football, FIFA, NASCAR etc. We're lucky the NBA told them no or else we'd be stuck with Live as the only NBA game.

FIFA was excellent by just about everyone who played it this year. Did you play it?

NASCAR was terrible, but please, name me the last good console NASCAR game.

So, if EA buys Take Two, they are suddenly the only company releasing games?

Do you honestly believe that EA will buy Take Two and shut down everything like Microsoft did with High Heat?

Besides NBA2K and College Hoops 2K, both of which are very sub-par this year, the only other Take Two game I could care about is Grand Theft Auto.

I didn't say that EA will shut down Take Two, what I did say was that they have a history of ruining existing games or they shut down companies. If EA buys Take Two then yes they would be the only company releasing games, it would be under the EA umbrella. I don't understand how you can't see that it's a bad thing for one company to own almost everything.

I just want things to go back to how they were where any developer can go ahead and make a sports game without having to worry about exclusives. When we had 4-5 football games out a year, yes it hurt the wallet + there was some crap in there, but it helped spark competition.

I agree, and in an ideal world that's what I want...I just know that some here get blinded by their hate (for whatever reason) of EA, along with their blind lovefest of 2k. Discussions like these just turn into a dumb 2k vs. EA battle and I'm tired of those. Both have slacked (2k with their only 3rd party exclusive MLB, EA with football)...EA's improving IMO with TW, Fifa, and NHL, while football is eh, and basketball is horrid. I cut neither company slack.

I'm also willing to give EA credit, which I think some here would kill themselves instead...look at NHL, Skate, Fifa...they're awesomely fun, so it's not like EA just puts out total crap. Just pointing out some good things too, because people seem to just say "ZOMG EA sells total crap" and that's not always true. 2k isn't the cute kid brother anymore, and don't always deserve the asskissing they get, just IMO.

Burnout? Nope, it's a 10X better game now

Harmonix/Rock Band? Everyone seems to like it more than GH3 (who no one blames Activision for ruining)

Simpsons? Brought them back

Valve/Orange Box? One of the games of the year.

Exactly.. I don't care who had the chance to get the license, who has it now or who will have it in the future. I want options as a gamer, that's all.

It's that simple. I want an alternative take on a professional sport and its league; I don't want to be bound to one option.

I agree, I'd love a bunch of games for every sport. We had that in the past, and there was always one good one and 3-4 piles of dung IMO though.

It's about their take on sports EG... the EA Sports division and how it's run.

That's where a LOT of gamer's dissatisfaction comes from. I personally LOVED the Simpsons. But that has nothing to do with NFL, NBA, FIFA, NCAA...

We're on a sports gaming website where dissatisfaction is on their handling of sports games, for a large part of it.

I don't play soccer or racing games, I was referring to not having an option. Anyway prior to this year or last year most people believed that Winning Eleven was the better game. As far as NASCAR, the opinions around here and other boards are that the Papyrus games were much better than anything that EA has put out.

And if Take-Two isn't making a profit, then its just a matter of time before they have to close up shop anyways, right? Also, Take-Two doesn't have to sell to EA. They can call other companies, such as Ubisoft, and try and work out a deal. Its a 2 way street. Don't blame EA for doing what every other business and coorporation in America strive to do... make money.

Then your opinion on FIFA and NASCAR being a bad EA monopoly are pretty null and void since you haven't played the games to comment on if they are bad or good.

2K had the chance, they didn't buy the NFL license. Everyone blames EA, were they supposed to let 2K have it? That would have been wonderful as IMO ESPN NFL2K5 is the most overrated game ever released.

Take Two never had the money to compete with EA for the license. That's like saying that an ordinary person has a chance against an olympic gold medal sprinter in a race, of course they technically have a chance but everyone knows who is going to win. And the issue isn't even that they bought it, it's the fact that EA hasn't improved the game and we have no other option for an NFL game other than NFL2k5 or an older game(which I'm playing and don't have a problem with doing until the license is up). It's not like EA had to buy the license or else the NFL wouldn't let them have it they were talking to the NFL for years about getting the license, just like what they tried to do with the NBA, and the NFL finally let them get it.

He wasn't even talking about EA buying the license anyway, he was talking about simply having an option to get other games which EA has taken away unless you want an old game.

But look at how they would all influence each other! NBA Live was at the top of it's game because it took some of the best qualities of Inside Drive, 2k and their own series' positives in 2005.

MVP Baseball was restructured from that wreck of TP with an emphasis on more realistic physics and animations, something ASB and HH would do well.

Just look at how Madden's control scheme is today... completely influenced by the NFL 2k series...

You take away these other options and creativity obviously takes a dive.

Exactly, EA can change...Fifa was crap, now it's good (getting better too).

NASCAR games are crap, and Papy did make the most realistic game...I'm not saying EA's perfect, they piss me off too. I'm just not going to go "EA Suxors" and then take a shot in the mouth from 2k like some seem to do.

I've seen more from EA lately than the past, so I can just hope the future continues this upward trend.

I reiterate, I want competition, I just think both companies aren't perfect and 2k gets the free pass.
