no, no multiplayer. I suppose they could have put in a co-op option but no. I got the strategy guide and I can tell you there is plenty to do in this game.

There is a rumor of free roam multiplayer coming in DLC. No missions, just 4-8 people in your game running around causing ruckus.Comment

Some reviews:
Eurogamer - 8
But to dwell for too long on the long-term niggles would be to do Just Cause 2 an injustice. Treat its story and delivery as a low-rent thriller and you'll give yourself the freedom to enjoy the world, and your freedom within that world, unfettered. One of the most technically accomplished games around, Just Cause 2 succeeds in delivering both the best-looking and most pleasant open world to explore and some of the most thrilling and diverse ways of moving through it. Its thrills are intense and, for the first few hours, come fast and dizzying, dulling only when you start to see the dry order that lies behind the chaos.
This game is so well designed that time after time in my playthrough I thought, "Man, wouldn't it be great if this game had X?" and then, lo and behold, X appears, like the albatross to the Ancient Mariner, except in a totally good way that doesn't cause the mass suffering and death of my shipmates. Honestly, I can't think of any reason why anyone who loves video games won't enjoy JC2. Learn it. Love it. Live it.
Even the glitches you encounter--sound stutters, maybe a lockup or two--aren't likely to be too bothersome, and can be somewhat alleviated by installing the game to your hard drive. But Just Cause 2 stands out more for its joys than its blemishes. After all, you can grapple to a gas canister, shoot it, and fly into the air like a rocket. And if that sounds like fun to you, it's time for a vacation to the island paradise of Panau.
"Just Cause 2" is a case of the developers examining what was wrong with their first game and improving it. At every turn there will be elements that remind you of great games like "Crackdown," "Test Drive: Unlimited," "Pursuit Force," and "Red Faction Guerrilla" but "Just Cause 2" manages to avoid feeling derivative, and actually ends up being quite enjoyable in the end. Even if you overlooked the original, "Just Cause 2" is worth some of your time, especially if you want an action game that you can play for a very long time.
So, Just Cause 2 is a gorgeous, fun, rollercoaster of a game. It's far from perfect, but its best qualities shine through, leaving the lacklustre gunplay as more of a mildly unpleasant aftertaste than a meal ruining disaster. It's a game that begs to be messed around with, for you to discover new ways to use the tools at your disposal and to take it all in the light-hearted way the developer intended. Chances are you'll forget why Rico was on Panau in the first place, but his exploits should live long in your memory.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Just Cause 2
Just read the Joystiq review, they said don't play the game, "play" the game. Don't even bother with the story, just mess around and do crazy stuff. LOL, sounds like my plan, no way I finish a 20 hour game like this when everyone is pretty much saying the story is blah.Comment

I'd love to hear some impressions once you all get this game. Let me know if it plays out like the Mercenary series.Comment

Will/does the Demo Expire like the BC 2 one did? If not I'll probably just keep it around and play 30 minute intervals.Comment

Re: Just Cause 2
anybody else playing on extreme difficulty? the one above normal but below the hardest
sucks that you can not switch difficulty it seems after you have started. so if I find it is too hard I have to start another game over on normal.
so far it seems fair but definitely more challenging than the demo on extremeComment

Re: Just Cause 2
No I'm just playing on Normal. I heard some parts get pretty frustrating later on, and didn't want to over challenge myself.Comment
