I didn't have the money at the time and I really liked the first Gears. I got to do some Horde mode over my Christmas break as well as play through the whole campaign. I hope to get my own copy of the game before MP diies down, especially since they've had all these title updates to fix things.

Does anyone feel the same way as me and feels that this game shouldn't of been a day 1 purchase? Just wondering. IMO the story was ok, Horde was fun but the Multiplayer is just Bland. Feels like its just a race to the power weapon and whoever gets it usually wins. IDK but I do regret my purchase. Just wondering if anyone else feels the same.

The only reason I kepy my 360 was because of Gears. I figured Gears 2 would be everything the first one was and more... boy was I wrong. The devs for this game could write a book on how to take everything that was cool in the first one and ruin it. They DESTROYED online completely... absolutely killed it.

Needless to say, I'm now a PS3 only guy.

Submission on Tyro Station is crazy. Just had a game that kept going back forth trying to bring the stranded to other side. It's was just a blood bath on the train tracks. I think I had my best round in Gears ever - 20 kills, 9 deaths, and 12 assists. I wish it and Guardian were separate playlists though. I like Guardian, but almost everytime people will vote for it over Submission.

Multiplayer is a lot of fun post TU3. The new ranking system is much better of giving you the feeling that you're constantly progressing. I've played about 20 matches since TU3 and only one had a little lag. Haven't ran into any standbyers either. Overall, everything just feels tighter and the flow of gameplay feels different. It's hard to explain, but I like it. Matchmaking could still use some tweaks, as sometimes it doesn't do a very good job of matching you with like-skilled opponents, and it can still take a little awhile to get into a match. Looking forward to the new maps coming tomorrow.

Ran into my first standbyer yesterday, didn't even take them a week to figure out a workaround. The other team wasn't even trying to act like they weren't cheating, as soon as the round started here comes 5 guys w/chainsaws smoking. Then to make it worse the people don't even show up in your "recent players" list so you can report them......BUT I'm actually enjoying multiplayer again, not on the same level as Gears1 but the most fun I've had so far with Gears2.

Downloading the new maps right now and I can't wait to bang out some of the new achievements. Especially the new ones for horde.

For the most part the new maps are great.

Fuel Depot: Nothing has changed, well except for it's now covered in snow, the gas pump explosion is far weaker, and the lack of Krill, but still awesome as ever.

Underhill: I really like the design of this map. Some close combat with lots of places to take cover and setup traps at the bottom and open combat out front. Good weapon balance with mortar/flamethrower/torque.

Grindyard: Visually, the best looking map of the bunch. Excellent for Execution, Warzone, and Guardian. Not so much for King of the Hill, as it's really hard to claim the hill when it's moved to the central tower with the boomshot once another team has it.

Courtyard: I need to play this more, but so far it feels like a more open Pavilion, which is a map I don't like.


I would like to play some Horde on the new maps, but there's no Public Horde option, so without a group of friends, it's a no go.

Since I've been playing a lot more Gears 2 lately, I decided to pick up the Combustible maps too. Not as good as the Snowblind maps, but solid nonetheless. Flood and Fuel Station could use some weapon balance tweaks though.

For future maps, I want to see another Flashback map pack or at least see War Machine and Mausoleum brought to Gears 2. Also, more dark maps.

flashback maps I'd like to see: Raven Down, Bullet Marsh and Process

played some since the update. two-piecing wasn't completed eradicated but whatever. I like how they replace quitters with bots. Even though the bots aren't great, it's better than nothing. Matchmaking still is a bit wonky. One game I was in had all single-digit ranks on one team and the other team had all 20s or higher. And I still wish they would just completely eliminate the smoke grenade knockdowns.

But I'm enjoying Gears 2 again and playing 5v5. I'm considering getting the snowblind map pack but I'm trying to save my current MS points for Halo 3 mythic maps when they drop.

They are using your trueskill rank behind the scenes, so higher numbers don't necessarily mean better players. I've routinely been on teams where our numbers were lower than the other team and we have cleaned house once the game starts (and this is with random teammates).

I just finished Gears of war 2, im confused did the queen of the Locust Die or did she get away, I don't remember a screen with her after she bounced.

I've been playing the hell out of this game as of late. They greatly improved the online aspect of this game and the new achievements have been fun to unlock. This is one of the best shooters I have ever played.

7 new maps (including 2 old favorites) plus a new campaign chapter. Nice.

a never-before-seen deleted campaign chapter titled “Road to Ruin.” In this deleted scene, Marcus and Dom return to the Locust Hollow in an action-packed encounter that can be played guns blazing or silent and stealthy.
