I think Gears is the new Halo in the sense that the first one was great, but the second is only slightly improved from the first, MP is now crap, and the story is not the best.

Gears to me just feels like Halo on steroids. You can't kill people for **** online because no one dies when you shoot them...hhmm...sorta like Halo. I think I'll stick with COD and Socom.

While the single player is good, it's not great. I was was expecting more than a Lord of the Rings knockoff.

I felt like I was in Mordor when the game started. But if you're going to rip off someone, might as well rip off the best.

That damn cover worm was so overused.

I don't know what it is but the game is not as graphically amazing as the first one. They added a bunch of fog effects, muted a lot of the color and the cut scenes stutter.

Hopefully playing this game off the hard drive fixes the stuttering at least.

Now the game certainly is no slouch. There's much more going on the screen at once so it seems like they had to make some allowances.

Gameplay-wise, it feels just like the first one. That's good and bad... as it feels like I'm playing Gear 1.5. Either way, the game has a charm that is undeniably good. I was hoping for a jump like Halo 1 to Halo 2.

Such a small thing but I love the Epic Games logo when you first load the game.

I really hope multi-player will make up for the single-player.

I agree with the graphics. At times it feels actually worse than the first as you mentioned but on different levels, you get a wow factor.

Also as you mentioned the fire fights aren't 4 on 6 anymore, they turn into wide rage wars which is understandable why the graphics aren't light years above.

One thing I noticed was that texture rendering is worse than the first where the first had no problems, here sometimes it is slow.

Either way I'm still loving this game.

As much of a homer I am for this series I can't help but feel a little disappointed with the "been there done that" feeling I get when playing.

But like you, I'm still enjoying the game. Just wanted a bit more revolution instead of evolution.

Rented the game, mostly for my brother. Wasn't really impressed with it. Looked like the same ole' same ole'.

reason the graphics don't look as good is because when pt 1 came out, there were not a lot of games out yet with really good graphics. So there was more of a wow factor in pt1. Pt 2 looks just as good or better to me...

Yeah, but that's exactly what I touched upon. The game increased the "scope" of the battles and missions but had to sacrifice the graphical texture at the same time.

It doesn't look bad but the first game was more visually impressive. And that has nothing to do with other games. Compare them in motion. Gears1 looked better most of the time.

Just made it to level 29 on Horde. Man I love that mode.

Still yet to play a regular multiplayer match as always searching for players. Been trying to playing since 1am on Friday.

I think this game is great. Not the big leap I was expecting. But then again when the first game gets 10,9,5 and and many 9's it's hard to top that again.

Also, in this game I think kills take more skill this time around and knowledge of the weapons. The headshot is your best friend.

LOL. Crazy thing is, I loved Rainbox Six before the last one. I think one of my problems is not knowing what some of the weapons do. I think I need to play some multiplayer games vs. bots.

Well it sure doesn't look as good as it was hyped out to be during GDC with all the lighting, motion techniques they showed. Also doesn't help when checkpoints come up, the game stutters which didn't happen in the first one.

Either way, it is Gears 1 with better graphics, better destruction, and a continued story and in no way am I disappointed so far. Especially since I'm only 40% into the story and Horde mode rocks.
