I like the campaign much better than GOW1, except

for the fight against Skorge. Skorge looks like a total badass, but you chainsaw fight him 3 times and then go to a relatively lame driving level to defeat him.

The multiplayer is a mess right now though, and I would rather have host shotgun than have to deal with the annoyances that are in 2.

You cant play split screen in anything other than private, no unranked matches, finding a match takes too long and you cant pick what you want to play, you cant quit out of a laggy match, the chainsaw is crazy easy, and it makes you sit and wait for 20 seconds at the end of the match before dumping you back to the menu to start over again. Its pretty much Gears of Waiting. There is also still host advantage, its just randomized now, and it has nothing to do with best connection.

I dont know, I really expected more from the MP and was really disapointed I havent seen a single review that called Epic out on it.

I beat the campaign, and because the MP annoys the bejesus out of me Im allready thinking of trading it in for the new COD.

I agree, the Skorge fight was a little lackluster. The minature mini game was pretty easy but yet annoying. Also I wasn't a fan of the riding around in the Reavers either. I was hoping for a better show down as well but oh well, still loved the campaign mode.

well I finally beat the game today. beat it on hardcore and got a ****load of achievements along the way.

I really liked fighting in the locust outposts and in Nexus. Some very cool graphical stuff going on there.

Did not care much for either boss fight (Skorge and the Lambent Brumak) even though both were very cool moments in the game. But defeating General RAAM in the first one was more fun from a gameplay standpoint.

I'm guessing by the ending, where you hear the queen talk while flying away in the ravens, that there is a Gears 3 to take place directly after Gears 2 ends because there was no closure going on in the story. But, also because a Gears 3 stands to make a bunch of money, maybe more than Halo 3.

I thought the story was much better than the first one but I could tell they still held it back a bit. Maybe Cliff was afraid a more engaging storyline would take his mark off the product? I don't know. A good story but still a lot of room for improvement, in my opinion.

I didn't understand the part where you have to go searching for the plans for the secret locust hideout. The part with the sires, I never understood why that part was in the game. How were they relevant to anything other than it was just another type of creature to fight? It was fun to chainsaw like 100 of those things though because you're never attacked by more than one lol.

Overall I was very pleased. There were so many more "OH ****" moments than the first one. It will be interesting to see what they do with Gears 3 to top this.

Yeah the Spires part was great; chainsawing through those bastards one by one. lol

Story wise with the Spires it was a lot more questions and that's it. I'm surprised it was never brought up again by Marcus or Dom to command as it was one WTF moments. Perhaps with all the hectic fighting that is why it was ignored.

Also Adam Fenix talking at the end after the credits added even more spice and questions.

Right now I'm playing it on Insane so maybe they'll be some extra ending... or not.

Yeah man.. we would of got to the next round if that one hadn't of snuck up on me.. You might as well give up trying to fight one face-to-face after they increase in difficulty... just too much damn health.

How often are you guys online at night playing Horde?

I've had some negative experiences already trying to play with Randoms. I'm not good at the game yet since I've not played a lot of it. And people screaming obscenities at me the entire time got really frustrating.

At one point I was taking on that big guy with the shield and I had rocket launcher. Told them "I have this shield guy since I've got rockets." This english bloke decides to run in front of me as I had fired. He starts screaming at me. I then tell him that I told everyone... he then goes and leaves negative feedback on my name... that kind of thing sucks. "Learn to play before you jump in with us." And like I said, "I didn't intend to get match maked with a complete jack (finish it off)."

So yeah.

I'd rather be playing with some OS, BMO, and WNR guys.

I'm not going to lie to you. It's pretty hard/impossible to get far in horde if you're not somewhat good. It's not bad once the difficulty raises at 10, but after 15 or so, it gets insane.

Skill definitely helps... but I think having a cohesive group matters more.

You can all be great individual players... but without helping each other out and sticking together, you'll go down in flames pretty quickly.

Gears of War 2 is a big disappointment so far. The matchmaking system is probably the worst ever and the new additions in gameplay are awful. The stun on the smoke grenade is getting out of control..... Every game is the same thing. You throw the smoke grenade and hope to stun the enemy. Once you have done this, you run up to him and shotgun him. This is getting really old. And planting grenades on the walls was a really bad idea.

I just sat down to play some multiplayer to give it another chance to do anything other than annoy the hell out of me, and it failed miserably. Will be trading this and NH-Hell 09 in for Cod WaW before I head into work tonight.

I traded in NHL for COD 5.... You can't go wrong with the new COD if you liked the last one. I can't believe the amount of frustration Gears causes me!
