If you liked Gears 1, you'll love this game.

If you liked Gears 1 online, you'll like Gears 2 online.

If you hated Gears 1 online, you'll hate Gears 2 online.

If you like good ol' fashioned fun, you'll love Horde mode.

Not much else to say, it's not a giant leap like Halo 1 was to Halo 2 and then 3. It's basically Gears 1.5 and more like a campaign expansion with Horde mode and bots added in.

Dakkon Said it Best. I think if you liked the first one you'll like the second one. If you weren't that into it, then you probably won't be that into this one.

Yes the matchmaking system could use some work, but perhaps that will get better as the game matures...

I'll be looking for some Horde Mode Friday night. Have a session set up with some friends at 10:30est. Might be looking for more. Want to try to get to lvl 50.

Also might try to get a game in earlier around 7ish....

I liked the MP in GOW, but they have seriously made GOW2 unbearable. The matchmaking, the forced game types, the lack of split screen unranked support, the waiting screens, the fact it kicks you back to the menu after every match, the random host selection (It may sound like a good thing until you get a Mexican or Brit as a host, and they are the only ones not lagging like a mofo..) I could go on and on.

Gears of War 2 is a big disappointment so far. The matchmaking system is probably the worst ever and the new additions in gameplay are awful. The stun on the smoke grenade is getting out of control..... Every game is the same thing. You throw the smoke grenade and hope to stun the enemy. Once you have done this, you run up to him and shotgun him. This is getting really old. And planting grenades on the walls was a really bad idea.

I must be the only one, but i liket the new additions to MP. I just hate the fact that the Chainsaw is overpowered., i've shot dudes in the face with the shotgun who're trying to chainsaw me and they walk right through it and slice me in half.

The stun to the smoke grenades actually means they are usefull. Being able to put grenades on the wall means u can actually set urself up in an area.

The matchmaking is not working the way it should, hopefully they fix that.

MP is a mixed bag for me. First and foremost i'm a single player campaign guy and always have been but COD4 really got me into online MP. But playing GOW2 online is frustrating because it takes way too many rounds to bring down an enemy. It needs to be less forgiving like COD4. Horde mode is fun though.....although I never get paired with guys who have total cohesion to make it past wave 20. There's always somebody that breaks from the group and goes down too far away to revive and then you're overcome eventually.

I do agree that pumping an entire round into someone is frustrating when they don't die.

The problem with the stun is that it stuns you for WAY too long and the radius is too big. If the stun time was reduced and the area not so big I would like the stun effect. As it is now everyone runs at each other throws a smoke and prays that their throw was better. Gets old after a while. And planting stuff on walls is uber gay since it takes so much to blow it up. Those things have super armor!

I agree with this post. I know they wanted to deemphasize the shotgun in MP from the first one but it appears they did it too much. Plus, it appears the shotgun has no stopping power. It's very annoying when the guy coming right at you with a chainsaw can walk right through the shotgun blast at his face/chest.

I wish the smoke grenades didn't knock you down, maybe just stunned you for a second but getting knocked down by something that was originally designed just to spray smoke is a little ridiculous.

But my complaints aren't gamekillers and I still enjoy multiplayer both horde mode and 5v5.

The horde mode is the bomb dig although i suck. havent made it past level 7. I cant imagine the upper levels cause like level 4 was making me sweat.
