    Re: Socom: Confrontation (PS3)

I think fans are upset because it took so long for the game to become playable after release. This map pack will be the 1st one since the game released( October 2008). I hope the map pack is really good.

I need to start playing this again. I am really terrible, but the new maps packs do have me kind of excited. It might even cause the grip Uncharted 2 MP has on me to loosen a tiny bit.

Agreed, only played Entrapment so far. Thought it was a pretty good map.

ARMS Run is a good game mode. Basically, the Mercs have to try to set 3 different missles off and the commandos have to stop them. The AK-107 is a good gun and the give you the option of putting a shotgun underneath it. So far I am enjoying the DLC.

                  Re: Socom: Confrontation (PS3)

Well after playing UC2 and COD:2 I finally broke and bought this game last night. Set the PS3 to download up to 1.60 last night. Going to give this a run tonight and the weekend.

I am a total noob when it comes to this game on the PS3.....do you guys play in a private room, are do you just play with randoms. I would much rather play with OS guys.

Any suggestion, any thoughts....anyone want to take me under their wing and walk me though this stuff....

Cold Front add on = Socom's back in the rotation. Let's get the OS clan going again. Let's get some!

                      BlueandGold,

I usually play ranked games, but would be down to get an OS private room going sometime this weekend.

This game is not a "Run N Gun" shooter, especially if you're a newbie. First thing to do is find a respawn room and go through all the maps to become familiar with the layout. I learned a lot about shooting after I played a while with the SMG's (F90,HK5). They are pretty weak guns but teach you how to shoot close range and it will help you work on headshots because they are so weak. Those guns also have larger clips, so you don't run out of ammo before them. Once you get the aiming down with those, I would switch up to the assault riffle. If you do use the SMG's remember to stay in close quarter combat, try and stay in buildings. People frown on "camping" in this game a lot but it's really the best defense for a beginner (atleast in the ranked games). If you just want to have fun in a respawn room, there's no need to be camping.

Thanks Ty...I appreciate the info. I am a much bigger fan of games like Op. Flashpoint. where it requires you to be methodical in your routine and decision making. Hoping I enjoy this game as much as I did Op. Fl.Pnt.

Blue, its great you decided to get this game. It's not quite as hardcore as OP Flash. but its more so than COD. Like TY said, play respawn rooms until you get good at the game. There are people like myself who have played this series since SOCOM 1 and will wipe up noobs quite quickly.

Also, this is for everybody, I am willing to change our clan to another faction if you want. I have heard the Dutch KCT gun, the HK 417 is great. I have also heard that the Russian Spetnatz with the AG-94 is good too. People here please chime in and let me know.

I have used the 417 and its a powerful gun, but it only has 20 rounds, it drops people fast so its not that bad with the 20 rounds. I briefly used the AG-94 and didnt really like it, but I didnt spend a lot of time with it. If we are going to change, I would be all for the Dutch and the 417
