[vent] how is it that my copy of gta has been sitting in some ups facility 45 mins from where I live since 6 this morning, yet i won't get it till thursday? how? why?

Most UPS centers allow you to go there and pick it up with proper ID. I've done it many times.

Picked it up at Best Buy for PS3...they had a billion +1 copies of both PS3 and 360.

They were ID'ing EVERYONE, even the guys who looked super old. They were saying how it's a 10k fine to sell to minors, and it's being enforced with GTA4.

Exactly- the only people thinking it runs/looks better on either system are just searching for a reason to assert their respective console dominance i.e. the definition of a fanboy. All this BS talk about anti-aliasing, pop-in, 630p vs. 720p, etc. is just, as I have said all along, a waste of time. I'm happy the thread seems to be moving away from those pointless discussions.

Anyway, I just went to Circuit City and all they had was the 360 Special Edition. I bit on it . There was no way I was waiting- plus, I don't feel bad because Rockstar (and 2K) are a company I really believe in. The $10 gift card helped too. This is really a momentous occasion and I want to remember this game.

I have to stay at school till 8:00 today (memorizing meds is getting painful) but tonight I'll be on gentlemen

I've seen plenty of posts from so called Anti-Fanboys that always seem to have at least one line stating something that is better on such and such system. Goes both ways. Lets just keep this from being a "vs" thread. Please

So for those who have an HDTV how does it look? because the footage ive see werent HD.

I think it looks good, but it's not a game that immediately jumps off the screen and impresses you. As you start to play more though, I think you will be quite pleased with the visuals, especially considering it's an open world game. GTA IV actually looks nice, I couldn't say the same for the previous games. My only complaint is the dithering, but it's not to bad.

game seems really dark on the PS3. I upped the brightness a bit. Still need a few more adjustments I think....

yup I noticed this to, I maxed out the contrast and put the bright up one.

Yeah, I got ID'd as well, and it was at the Best Buy where I used to work so it was a little ridiculous, just glad to finally have it.

The manual is hilarious...it's like a cross between a 'now magazine' and a travel guide...so good, so clever.

just heard the door close and my boss left...but he didn't say anything - do i risk leaving too, only for him to be back in 15min and see that i'm gone??? life's little dilemma's.

btw..the guy who bought the special ed. ...please share your thoughts about what's inside. Everything in the reg edition is so quality, I'm wondering what other cool stuff you'll get.

Can anyone explain the PS3 630p thing to me? I don't understand because my TV went into 720p as I was starting the game up (info button on my TV remote). The back of the box said it supports up to 1080p so I did the thing where you disable all of the other modes to force 1080p (like with the 2k sports games). And my TV says it's in 1080p now.

I don't get where this 630p talk is coming from, because it certainly looks good enough to me (knowing that GTA isn't known for it's graphics)

Did you ever get my request Pared? Ill be ready to rampage later if any OSers are on. Which online mode has everyone found to be the most fun? I assume its Free Roam, followed by Cops N Crooks

I'm indulging in the single player mode right now. Pretty damn good. I did a nice blocking combo where a guy tried to stab me, I ducked, then came back and dislocated his elbow, took his knife, and sliced him up good.

I have to run over the gym and make sure everything is running ok but I'll be on tonight again. Anyone up for some free roaming mayhem?
