I was thinking about a new storyline for this series and I got an idea from the latest Splinter Cell game - the double agent model. The main character could be a fed and infiltrate some seedy group - either a gang or the mob - in order to accomplish some goal. I'm not sure how well this would work, but it's an idea.

I'm just curious where the setting is going to be. Maybe a bigger Liberty City this time would be cool. I was thinking D.C. might be good too with all the historic landmarks. might be fun to cause a little havoc in D.C.

That has potential but how would you explain it when the "agent" goes on a massive 5 star killing spree?

I agree that if it gets any bigger than SA it is almost getting too big.

Handling an oline GTA style game would be extremely difficult (if its going to be a MMORPG style), no idea how they would go about handling it. If they have too many people on one map it would be total chaos and if they don't have enough you could be running around aimlessly for ages.

A map SA size would be perfect....if they didn't have endless forests, and trees, and times when you would just get so incredibly sick of driving through the woods. Only part of that game that made me want to kill myself.

I completely disagree. It should be done though as co-op, where people join online and play as part of a gang or part of the same mob and run missions. Of course the way most people think of online for this game I imagine is deathmatch and yeah that would be kind of stupid IMO as it'd just be people running around weapons grabbing and shooting each other.

As for the exclusive license, I hope Microsoft does get it. At least a time-based one anyways. I don't really care if Sony gets it though because I will have both systems but I think it would be another nice victory for Gates & Co. to get the license.

As for cities, I thought I read already that GTA IV was set in Vegas.
The Coop thing would be so hot only if the missions kept coming and people didn't cheese. What about the aiming system and stuff like that when we attack each other as rival gangs? That would be hot though to really have gangs online trying to fight for control of a city. But, that could get tired quick. Yeah, it's wide open. If they make it immersive where every person has a personality and stuff like that, I'd be definitely hooked. We'll see how it turns out.

yes you could do scripted co-op missions, but those would get old IMO. And yes, the deathmatch stuff for fighting over turf would be like GTA: Iraq.

If they really want deathmatch, at least make it co-op deathmatch where the game doesn't start until there is at least 2 on 2 playing. But that's just my opinion.

Complete opposite here. Quit Vice City when trying to blow the building up for Avery. Didn't quit San Andreas till I had to defend the radio towers for that nerd whose name escapes me for the moment. The common thread for me is that I'm no good at radio controlled helicopters or radio controlled planes.

Yeah that was really frustrating. I got passed it but after they recalled the game and then came out with the new version my saves didn't work and I didn't want to have to go through everything again so I stopped playing.
