    re: Grand Theft Auto IV

I picked up the complete edition this past weekend. This is pretty much my first go-around with a GTA game. I know, I know. Anyway, so far so good. A few questions....

How do I tell the difference between a side mission and a main story mission?

Should I be frustrated by many of the cars already? Keep in mind that I'm only 12% complete, according to the stats, but any mission where I need to chase someone is a complete disaster. I lose them a lot and need to start over. Am I picking terrible vehicles, or do I just need to spend more time practicing my driving?

What it meant was not having to go back to St.Marks only to die violently after your car blew up from a couple of shotgun blasts from some pissed off mafioso.

Both. Takes a little while getting used to GTA IV's driving mechanics. It's a lot different from the PS2 GTAs.

Main story missions will be the ones with the big letters on the map. Like if you're doing a story mission for Roman, there will be a big R on the map.

If you want news, Rockstar has purchased some domain names for websites that have a GTA flavor to them...

Why? It'll be big enough to have its own thread with an appropriate title.

and I think three others. A google search should bring up multiple links for it. I think kotaku was the first to report it.

I can't 100% GTAIV (!!!)...there's a glitch in my game where it won't acknowledge that I'm trying to get a car for Stevie...I know it's the right car (the Super GT parked outside the 69 exchange...there's only one, and it's always there), but whenever I get into it, I never get the message that says "This is one of Stevie's cars" or whatever, so I basically can't pursue that aspect of the game. Mildly irritating...anyone else have this happen to them?

Anyway, I wasn't going to 100% the game anyway (no way I'm hunting for 100 damn pigeons LOL), but it's annoying that the game just won't let me do Stevie's car thefts...

Brucie puts you in contact with Stevie. He's the one you get the cars for.

Thanks for the link. I've double- and triple-checked against multiple references, and I'm definitely in the right car....it just never triggers the message that I'm in one of Stevie's cars. Hunting around the internet, I have found a few isolated other similar complaints, but no answers. Sounds like a really rare glitch (I stashed the GT the first time...maybe that screwed things up? But going back and getting the stashed car doesn't trigger the garage icon either...) which I am just an unfortunate victim of.

Oh well...on an unrelated note, I'm 50-50 on whether to bother with the 2 expansion packs (Lost & Damned, Ballad of Gay Tony) that are now selling as a single package in stores for fairly cheap. Any thoughts?
