re: Grand Theft Auto IV
Quick question...just started the campaign, although I've had the game since release (am I the only one that does this? Buy a game, get busy, etc..): re: the dating/friendship stuff - which I can already see is gonna be really annoying - once you get to the desired "like" level of 75% or whatever to get someone's special ability, do you have to keep doing stuff with them to keep it that high, or can you just move on without continuing to do activities with them and you will stay at the desired "like" level? Just wondering, because I really don't want to keep having to play frickin' darts or whatever just to keep the friend level high enough...
Early impressions: after Red Dead, this game feels very tedious...Comment

re: Grand Theft Auto IV
In my quest for 100% completion, I have started grabbing all the flying rats with use of an online guide.
Ok, seriously, did Rockstar think people would find all of these on their own.
Some of these are in IMPOSSIBLE spots to find without cheating.
IMPOSSIBLE. lol
I couldn't believe some of the locations.
These was one on the roof of someones house that you could only get from going inside the house and up the stairs. Now how we would know that this specific house was one of the ones u can walk in is impossible to know. lol in any event, i am having fun gtting em all.
I decided to up the ante and try to get them on foot for a while.
I had a two star rating and grabbed 7 on foot while being chased.
Old GTA style of fun came through in that session.Comment

re: Grand Theft Auto IV
Thank you for the tips Jeffx and BlueNGold. Very helpful - the last thing I want to do while trying to take care of biz around town is to have to pick up a girl and go frickin' bowling...
I just realized I'm starting to tire of the GTA formula a bit at this point...I mean, the game has really not fundamentally changed since GTAIII, and other than better graphics, it's essentially the exact same game. What used to be novel is now tedious - go here, meet this guy, kill that guy, give this guy a ride, steal this car, lather, rinse, repeat...And the recent additions are just boring and tedious - what if I don't want to date someone in a frickin' videogame? Or have to hang-out at the pool hall "x" amount of times to build my friendship meter up?
Oh, and can I just say: does anyone really actually enjoy going after 100 or 200 packages/pigeons/whatever? I mean, I thought it was tedious in GTAIII (10 years ago now!!!), and at this point it is just nothing but a thoughtless grind. It's such a 1980's play mechanic - hunt for these Easter Eggs all over town! I'm glad they're taking their time with GTA5...the series really needs to re-boot fresh, IMO. At least move toward Red Dead, which never seemed at all tedious or boring to me (although maybe I just dug the Western thing so much I looked past it); I 100% that game, and I seriously doubt I'm going to come anywhere near that with GTAIV.Comment

re: Grand Theft Auto IV
I didn't mind hidden packages in GTA III at all because they at least lead to valuable unlockables, but the flying rats or whatever were pretty much pointless IMO.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

re: Grand Theft Auto IV
Okay, I guess I stand corrected. Apparently people do enjoy the exploration involved with hunting down packages/birds. Just seems like a chore to me. I admit I did like it in GTA3, I just feel like in this day and age, they should be able to come up with some new way to promote exploration. I liked what they did in Red Dead; I explored the hell out of the territories and never once felt like it was a chore. But, to each his own. Rockstar obviously knows what they are doing.Comment

I do use the guides for weapons pick-ups and packages.Comment

re: Grand Theft Auto IV
I loved the hidden packages in GTA III. I haven't liked any other kind of "hidden package" iteration they've used for every GTA game since then. Bring back the 100 spinning, floating, glowing packages and insert them on the map, and I'll have no problem wanting to find them all on my own (assuming they're not in the most conspicuous of places).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Well I remember getting 100% in that game (until it froze as I was saving it right after I got it, corrupting my data) so I must've gotten 100%. I don't remember what it means to get all of those before that mission though.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
