There was a similar problem with The Show for the first few days, disabling the internet connection worked for that too.

Re: GTA Screwed me.
I'm on 360, and yesterday, I had the perpetual wait loading screens. Not upon starting the game from scratch, but starting some missions. After watching the cutscene, it would get stuck loading and never recover. I then exited to the dashboard, restarted the game, and didn't have the problem again with the same mission, but I did with a later one.
Something got me to thinking I had to let all cellphone calls through before I started the next mission because something was left "undone." I don't know . . . I just hope it doesn't get worse."We were expecting a miracle with Elite, but instead we got Jesus at halfcourt."

Re: GTA Screwed me.
fish, I have clocked in about 3-4 hours since disabling the net last night and it works without any issues. This is the same problem we had with The Show during the first week of release.

Re: GTA Screwed me.
Count me in. My copy on PS3 started freezing up this morning. WTF. I had a feeling I could get on OS and there would be gobs of us with the same problem, it just took a little time. Which is weird, we didn't have a thread for this until several days after release.
Looks like i'll be trying to disable the internets.PSN Username = FinsUp75Comment

Me too...it's just a network issue, for whatever reason....sucks (just like it did with The Show), but as long as we can play I'm ok...I can deal with giving them a few days to settle online.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I agree. I think they should have a patch out soon for this.Comment

Re: GTA Screwed me.
It doesnt sound like a game issue, it sounds like another PSN issue. Granted i dont have many titles for PS3, but i do have the Show and that had some hangups with Sportsconnect and GTA has issues with PSN> I have played on PSN and it was great when it worked. Last night it was a bit rough, so i turned off PSN and had no issues in single player.
I dont think its a R* issue 100%, but i do agree it sucks. Id like to play online, whenever i want, or not have to disable my connection, but what can you do? Still, overall, a great game. I guess its hard to anticipate this many people trying to get online with the destruction we are causing.
That there was some issue with some glitch in the programming and that they would have a patch out soon.Comment

Re: GTA Screwed me.
What is the difference between logging out of your PSN or disabling your internet connection? I just logged out of my PSN ID and everything went fine after that but I want to make sure that Im not, in some way, negatively effecting something to do with the game by doing this. Probably a stupid question but what is the PSN ID for anyways? Just multiplayer I would assume correct? There isnt any real progress being kept that is recorded to your PSN ID like there is with the 360's GT is there?Comment

But I think that has to do more with your PS user name than your PSN ID.
So to answer your question, disabling the internet and logging out of PSN is the same thing as I haven't disabled it and just played logged off and had no issues.Comment

Re: GTA Screwed me.
Wow, now I have another question then, as you can see Im all twisted here, but what is the difference between a PS user name and a PSN ID? Is the PSN ID for access to the Playstation servers for online play I take it? If so, then what is the PS user name for? I was under the impression that there was only one and that was the PSN ID, apparently Im wrong.Comment

Those that are going to disable the connection completely have gone to the "Network" tab and set to "disable network."
Doing that is overkill since it disables ALL of your games from going online.... all you need to do is:
While logged in ONLINE...
Go to your buddy list.
Highlight yourself.
Hit triangle.
Then hit "disconnect."
GTA4 won't freeze on you anymore.
To make it easier do you don't have to do that every time you boot your system...
While logged in Online
Buddy List
Hit triangle on yourself.
Select "Auto-login-off"
Then hit disconnect.
You won't log in automatically anymore.
Now all you have to do is hit "sign in" to get online for all your other games.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

As of now though the user ID doesn't mean much. I'm sure it will once Home comes out.Comment
