I don't think the 12 steps ever told you to delete your save file. In fact, I think they specifically mention not to.


edit: Ah, ignore me. The list in this thread is different from the one posted yesterday in another thread. My fault.

That is why I didn't full follow all the 12 step program, just did a few of the things on that list.

Yankee, I think its temporary. Once they get the patch out, this should correct the issue.

For online though, it may not freeze up. It only occurs so far during SP.

Yeah, I was just getting the loading screen (starting tonight), but it'd never load...I disabled my internet connection and it loaded right away.

I got it once earlier, but when I rebooted it loaded fine, it makes sense how it might be linked to online (similar to The Show 08 this year). Hopefully the patch comes out soon, but I can deal.

Looks like.

Many people on the PS forums are having the same issue and doing this is a quick fix.

As far as me, I'm not having problems and there is no point to switch since both consoles are having troubles. Either way with Rockstar its a gamble.

Mine just started doing the same thing about 5 minutes ago. I turned my PS3 on to play and its stuck on the loading screen. This sucks.

happened to me too. i just took the disc out and put it back in, then it worked

Disabling the network connection worked for me, how silly. It's been Murphy's law so far for me with these next gen consoles.

me neither, although ti sucks that anyone is having problems.

my only real issue is that my 360 sometimes says it's an unplayable disk, but can play every other game I have right off the bat.

DDE and freezes. Been reported by numerous websites, although it doesn't seem as large as the PS3 problem.

At first it was said that R* put out faulty discs but now they are saying a patch will fix all the problems so we'll see.

When you start up the PS3 if you have it set too automatically log in then you'll get the freezing.

Just log out and then log back in, unclick the checkbox on "automatically log in"

This is like MLB The Show 08 when sports-connect goes down. Everyone that tries to start the game has it hang on the loading screen.

To play online. When you go into GTA4 and start it up... head to the mulitplayer. Then it will ask you to log back in from there. No hoops to jump through really.

Sucks that you guys are having freezing problems. So far in my playing time with GTA4 on my 360 and PS3 i have not had any freezing. Hopefully Rockstar gets a patch out soon.

Well ever since signing out of my PSN ID I havent had a single freeze and I played tonight for atleast 5 hours, and of course all of that was spent searching for pigeons. Ive spent nearly 10 hours on this game and am only 12% through it with 22 pigeons found, this is certainly a deep game if you elect to do everything and not just the main story.

It doesnt sound like a game issue, it sounds like another PSN issue. Granted i dont have many titles for PS3, but i do have the Show and that had some hangups with Sportsconnect and GTA has issues with PSN> I have played on PSN and it was great when it worked. Last night it was a bit rough, so i turned off PSN and had no issues in single player.

I dont think its a R* issue 100%, but i do agree it sucks. Id like to play online, whenever i want, or not have to disable my connection, but what can you do? Still, overall, a great game. I guess its hard to anticipate this many people trying to get online with the destruction we are causing.

Phew, thanks for the info you guys, went to boot it up yesterday and I got the never ending load screen. Was so angry when I saw the fix involved deleting your game save since I hate doing things twice in games. Just tried it again with internet disabled and it worked fine.

I'm playing on 360 and I haven't had any problems (knock on wood).


I don't think you'll have trouble with the 360 version. The PS3 version will be patched soon too.
