Nope not even close. GTAIV was bland, Dull and Boring. Also Nah and Not even close is pretty much the same thing. So 105 Nah to 76 Yes.

From a technological standpoint it has yet to be surpassed and has definitely set a standard, so in that aspect it trumps all over games. But I don't know if I would call it the best game of all time. Btw, if I ever hear the words "GOAT" or "Hotlanta" again, I will go nuts.

After I beat this game, I thought it would be GOAT. But I have been playing Saints Row 2 here the last few weeks, and I have been having more fun with it then I did with GTAIV. There just seems to be a whole lot more to do, plus the cut scenes are WAY better: more action and down right hilarious at times.

I can't see how anyone could think this game is the GOAT. I just can't see someone coming back to this game 5 years from now and enjoying it like they do now.

Mario NES gets my vote. Nothing compares to the feeling I had when I first saw my cousin playing it when I was little kid. I thought it was the greatest thing I had ever seen.

GTAIV got alot of play time from me. But as far as other games this year, I don't rank it up there with them. Deadspace, Mass EFfect, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, Bioshock, and NHL 09 (my favorite sports game of the year). They were all better than GTAIV.

But with that said from a tech stand point I voted for "yes". It is a great model for future games to look at. It has some of the best physics on any game to date. Sure people complain about the driving but I MUCH MUCH perfer GTA driving model over the saints row "on rails" type.

NFL 2k5 with updated and classic rosters and ratings and slider adjustments to the users skill level is still the greatest game of all time, not to mention that it's far and away the greatest sports game of all time.

If you haven't mastered 2k style football and updated this game you're not a real football fan and are only cheating yourself.

Not even close. Its not even the best game of the year. Its good. Great production and voice acting, but as far as being the best game ever in terms of gameplay, its not.

I still don't understand the hype about BioShock. I heard from quite a few people(especially on here)that once you beat it, there was really no reason to touch it.

GoldenEye will go down as probably the greatest Multiplayer game of All Time, but it's single player mode wasn't even the best or probably even Top 4 in the James Bond series.

Can something like this really be considered for best all time when it takes MASSIVE editing to get like that?

I mean with some edits to NBA 2K9, it makes the game great but I'm not ready to dub it the GOAT because I had to get it to play, run a certain to MAKE it the GOAT lol.

Games are kinda diverse and evolving, so a GOAT discussion is pretty tough, but the games in fairly recent memory that made me say "I'm in gaming heaven, and playing my favorite game ever!" are:
GTA San Andreas
Oblivion
Mass Effect
Rock Band
Street Fighter II, III
NBA 2k3

I loved GTA IV, but it lost the escapism of previous versions, or Saints Row 2. Not a worse experience for me, as I enjoyed the tale of Niko Belic, as well as the multiplayer, but I didn't want to visit the world as much as I did with CJ. Might have been lack of customization.

Definitely not the GOAT. It does have good production values and physics, but after San Andreas and Saints Row 2, GTAIV isnt "open" enough for me. Compared to the two games I mentioned, GTAIV feels canned. If Saints Row 2 had the physics engine of GTAIV, it would absolutely destroy GTA. As it stands at the moment its just slightly better than GTAIV.

Exaclty. It just doesnt SEEM like there's more to do, there IS more to do. Comparing the games, I'd go with GTA San Andreas, Saints Row 1 and 2, then GTAIV. Thats the order hands down.:wink:

People that said San Andreas is the best one, what was about it that made you think it's better than GTA IV? I'm not bashing your decision, but just curious to know the reasons for saying that.
