Biggest dissapointments so far this generation?

Yeah, I pretty much ripped off the best game so far this generation thread, but I know there have been a LOT of dissapointing games so far on the new systems.

These don't have to be games that flat out stunk. They can be games that just didn't live up to their hype, despite being fairly solid games.

For me, the first obvious one is Madden, specifically Madden 08. I knew 06 would suck being the first one on a next gen system, and 07 was a decent step forward. So I figured 08 would be the first great Madden on next gen systems. Boy was I wrong. I tried and tried and tried to play this game, as I have always loved the last gen versions of Madden, but this game just flat out stunk. So many bugs, and on top of that, the gameplay is just getting horribly old after all these years with the same engine. Doesn't help that All Pro Football was amazing on the gameplay side, making me realize just how bad Madden has been recently.

My next pick would probably have to be Assassins Creed. I got this, Mass Effect, and COD4 for Christmas, and those games completely overshadowed AC for me. Everything just got way too repetitive for me, and after a while, I realized I wanted a true STEALTH game. Not one where you stealthily kill a guy, and then have to run for your life through the city. I would prefer a quiet kill, and a chance at a quiet getaway.

Last but not least for me is actually a system: the Wii. I was psyched to get a Wii a few months a go, but the truth is, while it is a great system, none of the games hold my interest at all. I picked up Zelda and Mario Galaxy with it, and after about a day with each, I just didn't want to play them again. The only reason it isn't collecting dust right now is because my fiance loves Mario Kart Wii, and while that is also a fun game, it almost seems like I have outgrown the Mario's of the world. I prefer more action oriented games with great graphics and a realistic setting. The Wii doesn't really give me any of these. Like I said, I know it's a great system, but the only reason I keep it around is because my fiance loves it.

    So what about you guys?

Mass Effect for me, hands down.

Halo 3's single player campaign is a distant second.

        Definitely agree with AC.

I think I've got to add Burnout Paradise as my next choice. While it is a great game initially, it got really old really fast. Marked man missions were great, but racing, stunt runs, and road rage events got really stale real quick.

The races especially, there are maybe 4 or 5 different locales to race to each time you start one up. It got real tedious doing any of the races up to the mountain area of the map because it took forever to get back down to find another event.

IMO the Burnout series was really never meant to be an open-ended free roam type of game. I'd much prefer them go back to what made the first few great even if it only meant like 25 - 30 tracks both forwards and back to a total of 50 - 60 tracks.

I know there will be some DLC coming out soon, but even knowing that I flipped the game only because I don't really envision myself playing with the DLC because there are so many other things out there to play right now.

Really? What made this a dissapointment for you? Just wondering, nothing wrong with disliking a game. ME happens to likely be my favorite game of all time.

Most games. Even GTA 4 can't really compare to San Andreas.

Everything sports related other then The Show and NBA 2K series.

I can't believe how bad the madden series has gotten.

I don't really know what it was...but after a couple hours of playing and a couple of attempts at re-trying to get into the game because everyone was talking about how amazing it was...I finally sold it.

I just wasn't captivated by it.

Same for Halo 3 for me. It just seems like Halo 2 a little prettier with cool online stuff I'll never use because the game itself isn't any different. I guess I just don't enjoy the Halo style of gameplay anymore.

I can't really say a certain game, because I've enjoyed most of them really. But the way the EA football games took a step back in features compared to what the PS2 and XBox had really bothered me. I really liked NCAA and the new feature for uploading vids and stuff is awesome, but a lot of the things like smart routes, HFA, and stuff like that were just missing and that bothered me a lot.

Nope. Maybe I should've stuck it out and seen if that got me all hot and bothered for the game.

I love Halo 3...but only the multiplayer aspect. The single player campaign, unless you're doing co-op, was a HUGE letdown for me.

I just never got sucked into that, not like COD4 or other games. There's just so much circle strafing and jumping while running, along with the annoying people online (more than other games, at least from my experience)...for whatever reason just turned me off.

I guess I just expected Halo 3 to be amazingly awesome and to me it fell really short...
