These don't have to be games that flat out stunk. They can be games that just didn't live up to their hype, despite being fairly solid games.
For me, the first obvious one is Madden, specifically Madden 08. I knew 06 would suck being the first one on a next gen system, and 07 was a decent step forward. So I figured 08 would be the first great Madden on next gen systems. Boy was I wrong. I tried and tried and tried to play this game, as I have always loved the last gen versions of Madden, but this game just flat out stunk. So many bugs, and on top of that, the gameplay is just getting horribly old after all these years with the same engine. Doesn't help that All Pro Football was amazing on the gameplay side, making me realize just how bad Madden has been recently.
My next pick would probably have to be Assassins Creed. I got this, Mass Effect, and COD4 for Christmas, and those games completely overshadowed AC for me. Everything just got way too repetitive for me, and after a while, I realized I wanted a true STEALTH game. Not one where you stealthily kill a guy, and then have to run for your life through the city. I would prefer a quiet kill, and a chance at a quiet getaway.
Last but not least for me is actually a system: the Wii. I was psyched to get a Wii a few months a go, but the truth is, while it is a great system, none of the games hold my interest at all. I picked up Zelda and Mario Galaxy with it, and after about a day with each, I just didn't want to play them again. The only reason it isn't collecting dust right now is because my fiance loves Mario Kart Wii, and while that is also a fun game, it almost seems like I have outgrown the Mario's of the world. I prefer more action oriented games with great graphics and a realistic setting. The Wii doesn't really give me any of these. Like I said, I know it's a great system, but the only reason I keep it around is because my fiance loves it.
So what about you guys?
