I can understand that. Though, in my personal experience (and this is only if you're playing with serious, skilled players - not the standard 10-13 year old idiots) it takes a lot more skill to be good and succeed in Halo than it does in COD4. But that is different for everyone.

I just hear people always bitch about Madden being a roster update, and Halo 3 just seemed more like that level of a upgrade. I didn't get the "damn, this is next gen" feel from it. I'm probably just picky, and since I'm not a Halo nut in the first place, I wasn't the target audience...that's probably my problem. Bungie smartly targeted the game towards those playing 5+ hours a day. Those people just wanted Halo 2 on 360...
I understand your Mass Effect one though. For me it was one of the best games of the year, but if the story and all that didn't hook you then the game itself won't.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Biggest dissapointments so far this generation?
EASports is a let down.
MLB Series is a letdown.
Console sports in general is a let down.
Other than that, I've had mostly a great time this generation. I think there's some great games out.PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: Biggest dissapointments so far this generation?
The first 3 are actual disappointments (like, I want a refund), the other 2 are in the "great, but not quite the best" range.
1. NCAA-pretty obvious reasons
2. APF-again, obvious reasons
3. Halo 3-single player was just not good
4. GTA4-2 reasons, I only own a few games (pretty much NCAA/NBA2k every year and major titles) so if something is the 4th or 5th best game on the system for me, it's also about the 6th worst game I've played. The other thing is it wasn't quite as amazing as the reviews made it out to be. Great game, but I didn't like it as much as III or SA. I'd give it about a 9.2, but not a 10.
5. Portal-Fantastic game, but by the time I'd really figured out how to work the game, it was overComment

Re: Biggest dissapointments so far this generation?
Id have to go with NCAA and Madden for starters, all the first attempts of any sports game on next gen that ended up being dumbed down ports. I think other games ahvent lived up to the hype. The developers put so much time and hype itno the graphics and try to wow us with lighting and stuff, but the game play isnt as good as it used to be (hello Madden, hello NCAA, hello Halo). I want good graphics, but i want a game that isnt flawed and that doesnt require two patches after being out a week.Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

Madden easily fits the description for me. The same goes for Spider-Man 3.PS: You guys are great.

Madden - for removing features from the Xbox version and not really stepping up the presentation on next-gen
Halo 3 - After playing the COD4 beta, I thought to myself that if COD4 came out at the same time, I wouldn't have bought Halo 3. After playing Halo 3, I was right. The single player was ok, but the multiplayer wasn't much of an upgrade over Halo 2.
MLB 2k8 - I was ready to buy this game after hearing all the good things from Ben Brinkman, then I heard everyone's 1st day reviews about the framerate issues. And then I played the demo. And now High Heat 2004 is still my baseball game.Comment

Re: Biggest dissapointments so far this generation?
Yeah, I forget that one. Kane & Lynch was a major disappointment for me as well. I was expecting great things from that game since it was made by Eidos and they make one of my favorite games, Hitman; however, Kane & Lynch was pretty bad.Comment

Re: Biggest dissapointments so far this generation?
Non sports games don't disappoint me because I am pretty thorough in my research and know what I will and won't like. That being said....
All sports games blow except for MLB. Never would have imagined what EA has done with its series'.
And by far the biggest disappointment....BURNOUT PARADISE. I really want to punch in the face whoever thought it was a good idea to make it an open world game and the sales reflect how bad of an idea it was. Please go back to Takedown where there are just a bunch of tracks in different locales (forwards and reverse) and get rid of car bumping.Comment
