Played the Prologue and chapter 1 and it is a mixed bag for me. I love the game play and the action but this thing is so damn cheesy to the point that I wanted to just skip cut scenes and play the game. The dialog is just so bad with the needless F Bombs and stereotypical gangster chracter. I did not play much so hopefully the cutscenes and stuff slow down because in the prologue there was just way to much.

Very fun though and in the end that is all that matters

It is more tongue in cheek. Plus a nod to old games. Has that Japanese style to it. I am loving the over the top dialog, cut scenes, and music.

Now the gameplay is a whole other level of fun. It is such a smooth game to control and play that it makes it extremely fun to go from combo to combo. You can button mash your way through it, but once you learn the moves you can chain together long juggle and combo moves.

I am also loving the purchase system. It will take multiple multiple play throughs to unlock all the weapons, accessories, moves, etc. I like it because your character kind of becomes built to how you want them to be.

For instance my character at Chapter 5 is going to be different than yours at Chapter 5. I saved most my halos and spent only on the break dance move. Others might choose different moves or go right for new weapons. Some might even choose to just buy potions (lolly pops) and fight through with a advantage that way.

One of the best actions games I have ever played.

I haven't played Bayonetta yet, but holy s--- the soundtrack for this game is amazing. Best music I've heard on a videogame since Panzer Dragoon Zwei.

How exactly are you guys fighting/killing the guardians (forgot their actual name) that are flaming (the ones you can't touch without getting hurt)?

I've just been shooting them with the guns but that takes hella long. I'm pretty sure I'm not doing something I should be doing.

Anyway, got up to chapter 5 this morning. This game is awesome.

How exactly are you guys fighting/killing the guardians (forgot their actual name) that are flaming (the ones you can't touch without getting hurt)?

I've just been shooting them with the guns but that takes hella long. I'm pretty sure I'm not doing something I should be doing.

I don't remember any burning guardians?? I am just to Chapter 5 to MC.

But I do remember crossing some enemies you have to be in Witch time to attack. I bet that is the ones you are talking about. I also used some of the HUGE battle axes on some to.

Yeah, it's really good. I want to try and get hold of the OST, but it looks like the only way at the moment is to import it.

You're not far off with the connection. Many who have played Bayonetta call it a mix of Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe and Ninja Gaiden (Xbox versions).

Loving the depth to this combat system and I'm not really talking about the hundreds of moves. Dodge Offset is something I'm trying to really get down, because it allows you to dodge and still keep a combo going afterwards. To perform this, you need to hold down that last attack before you dodge, and continue to until the dodge is complete. Wicked Weave finishers are powerful, but you can't always reach them in a combo, because you need to dodge. So say for instance, you're going to do just a simple combo of P-K-P, but you're only able to input P-K, because you anticipated an enemy attack. You can keep this particular combo going if you hit P, hold K, and then dodge while continuing to hold K. Once the dodge is complete, immediately you would let go and hit P, which would finish the combo resulting in a Wicked Weave. You may want to do a Dodge Offset not just because you're about to be attacked mid-combo, but to reposition yourself to try and hit multiple enemies with a Wicked Weave. Also, it's useful with the Scarborough Fair, because you can keep a combo going if one bullet hits an enemy and even use it to buffer taunts.

Chapter IV was crazy. I almost got a Pure Platinum medal on it. Things don't seem so expensive as what I first thought. I already have a little over 100K halos and haven't started Chapter V yet. Air Dodge is the most useful technique available at the start, which I bought in Chapter I and it's the only thing I've purchased. Purchasing items is a waste since you find enough ingredients to concoct them yourself. I can't believe I didn't notice until after a couple chapters, but you do get those shotguns for free and the other weapons from finding Records. In the menu you can equip them, but to only your hands or feet, so buying them again from Rodin just allows you to equip them to both. Accessories are what you should be saving up for. There's one for 100K that initiates Witch Time when you're attacked and another for 200K that sounds similar to Royal Guard from DMC, as it allows you nullify an attack no matter how powerful by tilting the left stick in the direction the attack is coming from. That's invaluable and it's probably what I will continue to save up for.

Nice thanks for the heads up Flawless. I even mentioned how I felt I needed the air dodge. You just confirmed why I need to purchase it. Being able to continue your combos with out the interruption of a air attack hit regardless is a huge thing. I went for the break dance move and it is cool as hell has a good ability of clearing when surround(guns seems do to more damage). You slaughtering me on halos though.
