    Rock Band 2 confirmed features

I think these are 2 main features to keep your instruments and stay away from GH:WT

    - All RB controllers work with RB2
    - DLC will be loaded to RB2 as well

So far thats all. I've gotten this from the Rock Band boards.

Looks like I'm buying Rock Band 2 then.

Hopefully another confirmed feature will be Led Zeppelin.

DLC makes this a automatic buy. As long as the instruments are on par with GH4, I'm pretty sure it will be a better game.

If you can afford it, I would get World Tour also. Red Octane makes guitar peripherals like no one else can. Just look at the SG or Les Paul compared to the strat. The drum kit looks like it will blow away the RB one too.

For gameplay, though, I love playing Rock Band over Guitar Hero. Activisoft ruined the game.

I agree with you... if you can afford it, of course get GH.. but let me ask, how many people would really want 2 plastic drum sets or 4 sets of guitars around the living room? This is what is turning me off with GH... They're trying to copy RB, but instead of getting a bigger audience by making their instruments compatible with RB, they're making new instruments made differently, and expect people to spend $175+ to get another set. Sorry, but thats just greed. If they make the instruments compatible, they'll equally make more money. Nobody wants to purchase a $175+ game twice.

Yeah your right. And the thing about GH4's instruments is i fully expect Harmonix to have there instruments for RB2 have the same features of the GH ones.

With the DLC working with RB2 and Harmonix will probably turn out a better game than Activision. I'm not really even thinking of buying GH.

The fact that DLC carries over and I can still play my Dead on RB2 makes that over GH.

I just hope they make the drumset look as good, if not better then the GH4 drumset. From a drummers point of view, I hated the RB drumset. Beating around on pots and pans is more realistic then the drumset they have.

I agree. I play only the drums on RB so if they don't upgrade the drums I'll probably go with GH4. I really like the looks of their drum set.

Then I also disagree with your comments a bit. Then shouldn't the Harmonix instruments also work with the Guitar Hero games too? I hate it too that both companies will do whatever they can to sell us $200 each total in game and equipment. They won't want their instruments to work with the other game to make their money or one company will lose out if people don't use their instruments to play either game if the makes sense.

Wow, a company is actually doing something that makes sense and allowing instruments to be compatible with a future version of a game......groundbreaking /sarcasm

Just happy i wont have to drop 200+ again (game, instruments and DLC)

Good to know I won't have to buy new instruments for RB2 but no question I'll still be getting GHWT.

I'm not sure if I'm getting either one at this point. I know I'm not getting any new guitars or mics unless something really unpredictable happens, like they figure out how to put a string type interface on the guitar. I've already gotten most of what I wanted out of Rock Band, which is to be become a serviceable drummer.

When RB was announced, I hoped that mastering the drums on Expert would pretty much leave you as a half decent drummer. I haven't mastered it yet(I'm on the 2nd to last setlist on Expert), but it looks promising. If I'm a solid drummer by the time these games come out, I'm just going to put that money towards a real electric kit and take it to the next level.

If there are enough features, I might grab the stand alone disc to RB2, but I'm not even sure about that at this point.

Harmonix actually wanted to release a patch so their guitars would work with Acitvision's game.

                              GH/RB rivalry heat up

It's not as simple as just buying one set of instruments and picking up each game separately, either: The controllers are not universally compatible. A "Rock Band" controller is not guaranteed to work with "Guitar Hero." "Rock Band" developer Harmonix wanted to release patches for their games to enable support of the "Guitar Hero" guitars, but Activision objected and the idea was scrapped.
