finally beat this game. i gotta say the ending was pretty satisfying. had me a little emo too. I've never played a game that had me this attached to the characters. Well done SE.

@crypticjordan
Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Final Fantasy 13 (PS3/XBOX 360)
I do have FF7 and i've clocked a few hours so we'll see how it goes (gameplay wise it still holds up pretty well). Plus I just got back into video games after about a 5 year layoff.
as tedious as this game was to complete, I still really enjoy the story elements.Comment

i dunno, i freakin started bawling at the first big event in FF7 (albeit i was in like 8th grade) but thats probably the most emotional a game has ever come close to getting meComment

I am done with this game - I was excited for it but I put it down a month ago and have no interest getting back into it. I might trade it in (and I hardly ever trade in games) and pick up Red Dead Redemption.
I made it to Gran Pulse and really just stopped caring.Comment

Re: Final Fantasy 13 (PS3/XBOX 360)
the pace picks up in chapter 12. I almost gave up in Gran Pulse the story seemed to come to a screeching hault. Chapters 11 and 12 are definitely glorified grind fests. If you can push through I think its worth it.
I had to do about 2 hours of mindless grinding in gran pulse. but the spot I found was so simple I just did it while I was on the phone with my girl. before I knew it i was ready to press on.
really though. If you can make it through the game you'll be glad you did.Comment

Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
I decided to pick this game up at Gamestop the other day (price was right at $30 new). I have played other FF games in the past but I must say that this games graphics and cut scenes are the best I think I have ever seen in any video game so far. Absolutely stunning!
Running on my PS3 in 1080p makes everything so crisp and clear and the detail really is something you have to see to believe.

Re: Final Fantasy 13 (PS3/XBOX 360)
I seriously have had this sitting around since it was released and had yet to really sit down and play it. I finally put it in this weekend and after about 5 hours, I'm still not sure if I'm into completely. It's an absolutely gorgeous game (Duh, it's Square) and I like the difference the fast paced combat has provied so far but I'm not really into any of the characters so far.PSN - RedSea_RouchComment

Re: Final Fantasy 13 (PS3/XBOX 360)
Just picked up a PS3 recently and got this for a cool $10. I know about the mixed reviews but FF 10/12 were awesome so I'm sure I'll be able to find something to enjoy. That and XIII-2 looks very cool.Comment

Re: Final Fantasy 13 (PS3/XBOX 360)
Sorry for the grave-digging (sort of didn't know where else to post this random musing and I was bored...), but I picked this up after being cooped up in the place for a while, and a few years removed from all the hype and hate, I have to say...I actually loved this game. I wouldn't say I'm a big Final Fantasy guy (the last one I played was VII....), but I always liked JRPG's (Grandia, Skies of Arcadia) and turn-based combat, and this was one of the best. Plus, the game was just gorgeous to look at. Yeah, it's sappy and Asia-soap-opera-y, but maybe I'm a sucker for that sort of thing...anyway, for $15 or whatever it was a great ride. And I have to say, call me a sap, but that was the most satisfying ending to a game I've seen in a while (although maybe it was just the ultra-high production values and the fact that most other games I've beaten lately had crappy endings).
I agree with a lot of the criticisms of the game, but the bottom line is I invested in the story and characters, and really enjoyed it. Good value for your dollar, too - like 70 hours for $15. Consider me a fan.
Anyway, I was pumped up enough that I went out and got XIII-2 (for $17...being way late to the parties has some benefits), although I haven't gotten to trying it yet.Comment

Re: Final Fantasy 13 (PS3/XBOX 360)
Yeah for all the problems I had with it in regards to how the series has changed it was one of the last games i've played where I've played all day until eventually I got probably halfway through and just stopped.
Going to pick it up again over Xmas break since my step-dad has it then maybe get the 2ndSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Final Fantasy 13 (PS3/XBOX 360)
If you have the time, definitely finish it up. Seriously, I felt really satisfied after beating this game for some reason. It was really epic - or at least it felt that way - in a way that I was expecting (but didn't get) from Mass Effect 3 as an example. I think it was a great ride, and if you get into the characters and story, I think it's worth it. Especially since we all know what the game is now; I found I didn't miss the towns or other things people complained about (since most of those things are just thin veneers of the streamlined presentation of FFXIII anyway). It's a corridor, that part is true. But it's in service of the story, which I felt was worth it.Comment
