    Re: E3 - Operation Flashpoint2 - hardcore fps

I'm enjoying the game, but it's not perfect by any means.

just played online deathmatch and had a very realistic and intense battle. it started my team crossed some bridge and engaged the enemy, then we were pushed back onto the other side of the bridge so it was litterally like 2 trenches firing at each other. I finally figured out how to select a sniper team and got one kill at a range of 350m. I don't like how I had to aim 3 dots up to get the kill since I should be albe to just aim at someone at that range, however it looked like a great distance and it made me smile when I ended him.
The problem is that so far, I don't think other guns have bullet drop. I get kills w/ AR's by aiming right at them regardless of distance...it's like hte snipers are the only ones with a realistic gun which is zero'd far too close.
But the game does cause semi-realistic battles with both sides dug in trying to cause the other team to mess up. being suppresed feels very real since you really feel like you're pinned down and the dirt on the screen makes you worry about being killed at any instance.
At the end of the battle another human player zipped overhead in an attack chopper and killed me as I was running inside a building for cover - i was sniping, ran out of bullets getting used to it and took a stationary gun to kill a couple guys on the other side of the bridge when out of nowhere that chopper came over and rained down the pain!
He finished like 34-7 (he knew the game welll) i was 8-3 and so was the other human on my team.
At least you'll kill more than you die in this game because of the team groupings it seems like.

I agree with calling in artillery - it's amazing!
offline I"m stilll getting the hang of it, but also dissapointed how I can't choose my gun. It's very very hard game, the last place I died seemed impossible to overcome, so I went online to try out a sniper rifle.

How do you do this??? I am usually stuck with selecting from a fireteam with just a rifleman and engineers and anti-tank guys...
also, in annihilation, did you notice that you had to shoot guys a lot of times for them to die??? I had this happen a few times, where I would shoot a guy 8xs and he still would be crawling for cover...???

Ok, when you respawn or before the game it puts you in fireteam or whatever group. Press 'B' that will allow you to move sideways through the other team types. a couple to the right is sniper team w/ 2 snipers on it so just pick one of them. Be careful about wasting ammo though, when I ran out I didn't know how or where to get more.

About shooting people...are you sure you were hitting them? I know if you hit someone in the foot or leg or arm they won't die right away or with multiple hits, gotta put one in the head or heart.

Hope that helps...the game is still confusing to me since there are a lot of ins and outs I don't know.

here's something i found out - left on the d-pad chooses single fire or auto/burst on some guns.

***edit...just to make the answer clear - you have to de-select your assigned group and choose a new group (ie. sniper team). I think it selects the group for you automatically, so you have to deselct to choose a diff group. I hope that's clear lol.

PS3 looks great if anyone is wondering. I can't compare it to the 360 but it is all I have hoped it to be so far. If you liked the original you will like this one. The communication wheel is a little tricky, but so far it hasn't slowed me down.

Sounds are awesome. I'm running to the objective and I hear firefights in the background but nothing close to me. The sound of an attack chopper shooting at you is a scary. I love the way you can hear yourself breath heavier when you are running.

Yep and they (The AI) will also drop to the ground when shots are fired at them. They'll roll to cover etc... pretty sweet if you ask me. You sometime dont hit them but they don't just stand there if you miss and instead they will react to the shots.

                    Very fun game.

just played infiltration. I won the game for my team after getting my arse handed to me the whole game.

some guy just said over headset...anyone got exposives, I just cleared the tower...so I said yeah, sprinted for it, laid the detonators and blew up the tower to win the game.

quick and dirty win...you blow up the objective, you win..end of story, it was kind of cool.

that anhiliation level is not very pretty though, it's super foggy and you can't see anything. it makes it spooky, but it would be snice for more options

...speaking of options ... THERE'S ONLY 2 MP MAPS?!?!?!?!?!

another bad thing is the stats suck. it's kills and deaths no headshots and no weapon effectiveness breakdown.

it's still really cool though...the guys on my team (3 peopls vs 5)
were cheering when I blew up the tower it was cool

ps. i've had to host my 2 games so far just to make sure i could play.

The AI is crazy in this. It is unforgiving but not impossible. I like the way they flank and suppress you.

I didn't even know half of you guys knew about Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, let alone had an entire thread dedicated to it. I've heard great things about this game and I can't wait to play it and check it out for myself.
