Re: Halo 3: ODST
Could of had this 4 days ago...but still on the fence. Just not sure if its value is there for me or not. I hate being on the fence about games.
Played H3 for about a month before it got boring.....but I had a great time playing GofW2 in Horde mode for like 2 months. Im wondering if firefight mode will be enough to pull me and keep me there for awhile.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
I really like Horde in Gears 2, and really any type of survival mode for that matter, but I think I will like Firefight even more. Sucks about the no matchmaking though. I like that waves are random, except for 5th wave of each round, which is Brute Chieftains. The AI in Halo being way more sophisticated. Skulls will spice things up by controlling the pace and forcing you to adapt to their affects. Shared lives pool makes teamwork even more essential. Halo Sandbox, especially vehicles. Having to go up against Ghosts, Banshees, and Wraiths on some maps just adds another dimension. The fact that you can get in on the vehicular combat too on the Lost Platoon map with warthogs. It just seems like there's going to be a lot more variety than Horde.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
Some good advice:
Don’t Forget to Save Before Halo 3: ODST Firefights
This weekend more than a few videogame journalists lost hours of campaign progress they’d made while playing Halo 3: ODST. That’s why Game|Life is issuing this friendly public service announcement: Don’t forget to save and quit at the end of your single-player session.
The game’s new Firefight mode — a co-operative multiplayer brawl that pits up to four players against waves of Covenant troops — seems to be the big culprit. Here’s what happens: A solo player engrossed in the game’s campaign gets an invite to join a Firefight match. He quickly accepts the invite and jumps out of his game, unwittingly losing whatever progress he’d made in the single-player game.
It happened to me. I was forced to replay the first ten or fifteen minutes of the game because I’d jumped out for a Firefight session. So when you pick up Halo 3: ODST tomorrow (or tonight at midnight if you are so inclined), heed our friendly warning. Have fun playing Firefight, but for the love of Master Chief, don’t forget to hit pause and select the “save and quit” option before accepting multiplayer invites.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
Gamespot Review - 9.0
The Good- Firefight mode is a blast.
- Campaign is well-paced, with tons of great moments.
- The between level sections are moody and engaging.
- Same great multiplayer from Halo 3, with 3 new maps.
- No Flood.
The Bad- Multiplayer is mostly recycled from Halo 3.
- Damage indicators are annoying.
Halo 3: ODST is an excellent package. The delicate construction of the story adds a new wrinkle to the typical Halo plot, and the action-packed campaign levels are full of intense battles and surprising encounters. Firefight mode is a standout addition, crafting highly addictive cooperative battles for players to experience. It's disappointing that the competitive multiplayer hasn't received any updates or innovations from its Halo 3 incarnation, but it's as fun as it ever was, and well worth sinking more hours into if you haven't yet seen the many downloadable maps. ODST is a superb addition to the franchise and a must-play for anyone who craves top-notch action.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
7 from Gamesradar
In many ways, Halo 3: ODST marks a bold departure from the franchise formula, with story, characters, atmosphere and multiplayer that are refreshingly, surprisingly different. Due to a short campaign and overly familiar gameplay, however, it fails to escape the "expansion pack" label.
You'll love
* Story and characters are a nice break from formula
* Firefight cooperative mode is very, very addictive
* Plenty of hardcore Halo fan service here
You'll hate
* Campaign is surprisingly short
* Gameplay is overwhelmingly familiar
* Is this just a placeholder until Halo: Reach?
* Story and characters are a nice break from formula...so I might actually like this one a lot.Comment
