Re: Halo 3: ODST
This game is some of Marty's best work yet. Two more partial tracks from ODST.

Re: Halo 3: ODST
Watched the long version of the real time video "We Are ODST" on XBL. WOW!!! Please make a Halo movie and have it look like that. I'd be all over it.Comment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
I agree Flawless, the score sounds amazing. I feel like I'm to be become so immersed in this campaign.
Vidoc was very interesting. Even with the same game engine, it is pretty impressive what Bungie did with this game in just 14 months.Comment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
TeamXbox
The Plot Unfurls Unlike Any Other Halo Game
Someone at Bungie has been taking classes on how to create a compelling narrative. Previous Halo games have been similar to other video-game shooters in that they told their stories in a very linear sense, much like action movies intended for audiences with really short attention spans. The progressions were simple, no matter how convoluted the plot was—and goodness knows how convoluted the grand Halo story can be. Sometimes I felt like I needed the Cliff Notes as a companion.
Halo 3: ODST tells a much smaller and more straightforward story about a squad of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (kind of like the UNSC’s special forces) on a single mission and it takes place over the course of one night. The team, made up of Romeo, Dutch, Mickey, their leader Buck and the central character “The Rookie,” must escort a female Naval Intelligence officer named Veronica Dare to the embattled city of New Mombasa on a mysterious mission.
Unfortunately, the team gets separated, and in the main thread of the game, you play as The Rookie as he tries to find his lost teammates in the occupied city and rally with them.. You’ll pick up their beacon signals and travel to them across dangerous city streets teeming with Covenant troopers. Once you find each beacon, you’ll find some kind of relic that’s evidence of what happened to them. A helmet here, a bent sniper rifle there; finding these artifacts initiates a flashback sequence in which you will see the story of the team members involved and play through it, culminating in what happened to leave that artifact there in that condition. It’s very clever and very effective. There’s a Story Within the Story
Lots of games have tried the “audio or video logs as collectibles” trick before—case in point, Batman: Arkham Asylum, which lets you pick up recordings of the therapy sessions of Batman’s various villains. But most games, Batman: Arkham Asylum included, use these audio snippets to provide a little extra exposition to the game—some meaningless, if fun, addendums to the story.
But Halo 3: ODST crafts an entirely separate storyline through these audio logs found around the city of Mombasa, one that is compelling and dramatic and actually worth listening to. That may be a first for video games—or at least puts them in very small company. Finding all 30 (or most of them) not only gives you a great story to follow, but it also unlocks weapon caches around the map. The more logs you find, the better the stuff inside these caches. Trust me…having a Mongoose at your disposal can be crucial.Firefight Mode Will Own You
Some may consider it a direct rip-off of the “Horde Mode” in Gears of War 2. It’s not. While clearly inspired by it, Firefight Mode in Halo 3: ODST is its own thing and has a feel to it that’s as different from Horde Mode as the two games are different from each other. Like Horde, Firefight is a ton of fun, but it will also take over your life. Playing a round that lasts 45 minutes is not out of the ordinary, and some matches can go on for literally hours. This is not one of those “I’m gonna get a quick game in before bedtime” modes. This is a “I think I might need to take the next couple days off from work” modes. The variety in the maps is great, ranging from smaller, more compact maps where the enemies spawn out of only a couple spots; to larger outdoor arenas with vehicles and Covenant dropships pulling your attention in all kinds of different directions. Firefight will likely push Halo 3: ODST back up to the top of the Xbox Live games-played leaderboards.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
So what's going to be the best way for us to keep a list of people getting it from this thread, so we can know who we can play Firefight with?Comment
