Re: Halo 3: ODST
I've become engrossed with tracking down all the comm data for Sadie's Story. I have one last flashback and I've put that on hold while I find the rest. Just 6 more to go.
I'm really enjoying the experience and atmosphere of this game. This looks to be the first time I've beaten a Halo game on anything higher then Normal as I usually just look to get through the campaign to see how it unfolds.Comment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
so I have a question for halo people versed in the mythology and have beaten odst...
Spoilerwhat the hell does vergil/engineer do and why was it important? It seems that this isn't too far ahead of Halo 3, so Master Chief is about to show up and wreck **** by himself anyways right?
The game was meant to be about the ODST squad, but it seems like they just tacked on the significance for you getting an engineer. From what I recall from Halo 3, it served no real purpose.Last edited by bkfount; 09-28-2009, 05:20 PM.Comment

Taking my time with the campaign. Just finished the third flashback and have about half of the audio diaries. Really loving the campaign so far. The mood and atmosphere is so well done.Comment

SpoilerI guess the engineer didn't have an effect on Halo 3 but might mean more to the war effort in other ways. They said something about it knowing pretty much 100% of the Covenants secrets, like homeworlds, tech and stuff like that. Similar to how Cortana knows all the same stuff about Earth.
Getting one is like having the sports betting book from Back to the Future 2. You suddenly can know a lot more than you normally would.Comment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
I am disliking the hub world sections a lot, but the levels where you play as the rest of the team is very well done. The outside environments are very nice imo and much better than the sections on the streets. I am almost done with the SP, can't wait to see where this all heads as I hear the ending sets things up for Reach.Comment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
I thought the hub world was the best part of ODST and while I haven't got all the audio logs yet, hearing a civilian's side to the story is really fantastic. It's easily the best narrative Bungie has done in a Halo game. The flashback missions while some of the strongest in the series, are still very similar in design to previous missions that I've already experienced over the course of the Halo trilogy. I guess fatigue is just starting to set in for me and I found the hub world was very fresh.Last edited by Flawless; 09-29-2009, 04:15 PM.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

I took 'em on. Hid behind a beam, drew them in close and circled around with the shotgun.Comment

Re: Halo 3: ODST
Just finished the single-player on heroic. I enjoyed it. I thought the "HUB" levels were great! A nice change of pace from the typical Halo fare. Playing a Halo game in a stealth-like manner was fun. I loved the silenced pistol!
The flashback levels were more in line with a regular Halo game and still fun. But I thought the stealth sections as the rookie were better suited to playing as an ODST. Yeah, these guys are supposed to be the best of the best (non Spartans), but having a straight on fire-fight with an army of Covenant seems like a stretch. Master Chief being a one man army I can buy, but I dunno about these regular human soldiers. I mean, there are times when you are taking on five Brutes at a time, a few jackals and some grunts for good measure and kicking just as much *** as the Chief. Playing stealthy seemed far more plausible.
Anyway, fun game. Should have been released for like $39.99 though.Comment

I enjoy the atmosphere generated by the hub level. I find myself sneaking from weapon cache to cache as I track down the Sadie's Story stuff.Comment

...Played through and beat it on normal. I can't believe they released this at the normal price. I know Halo 3 is in the title but I didn't think that it would be just substitute DLC...Carolina Pride!!!

Top 7 things ODST does better than Halo 3 (pretty much sums up why I liked this and not the other games): http://www.gamesradar.com/f/the-top-...92895613128012Comment
