I don't understand how I'd never heard of this before the PS4 remaster. This game is wonderful. I love the art style, sound, the way the story is told and the gameplay mechanics. Very glad I picked this up.

There's many great games that fly under the radar, while so many focus on the next flavor of the month which will soon to be forgotten.

Just paying attention to mainstream media and the like, you're sure to miss great stuff.

          Re: Valkyria Chronicles

This might get even less interest than when I mentioned the VC3 translation stuff, but oh well.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a real thing, confirmed to be a worldwide release sometime this year, and had a Japanese version demo released a couple days ago. I've played the demo and I'm glad to say it's bringing the series back to its roots (which is odd to say considering the franchise is only 1 console generation old). It plays so much like the first one that I had absolutely no trouble picking it up and playing without knowing any Japanese. There's some new elements of course (some stuff I don't want to spoil in case the demo gets released here later), including some stuff I probably didn't catch because of the communication gap.

I think the most striking thing about it isn't necessarily a good thing - it honestly looks a lot like VC1, too. Don't misunderstand - I LOVED VC1's art style and I liked that they brought it over to the PS4 - that style is timeless and I think this proves that more than anything. But it doesn't stand out to me as being "improved" for the PS4. That is, of course, not going to stop me from buying this day one when it's released here, but I just thought it was interesting.

You can download and play the demo if you have a JPN PSN account - and it's free and not difficult to make one. I don't want to go over that here - a google search will tell you all you need. Then just go here to download (note:
this link will boot you out of the JPN store if you are signed in with a US PSN):

If you don't want to do that, I'm sure we'll get an English version at some point (though I would think we'd get a solid release date first). Once the release date is announced it'll probably be time for a thread dedicated to the game.

I loved the first one. Bought it like 4 times. (Ps3, ps4, steam, them ps4 digital) lol.

Does the story relate to the first one or is it a stand alone story?

It seems to relate. I know the faction I'm controlling in VC4 from VC1 (it's not Gallia), but I don't know the timeframe. It could be taking place at the same time as all the Gallia stuff or not. Just don't know for sure since I can't read the text.
