I can see someone who can FC Dragonforce or the Who's Magic Bus DLC, amongst others, that they might be a little underwhelmed with the difficulty. To me Rock Band games should be about having fun and providing a challenge, without making the game too frustrating. This game fills that void for me.
That sounds awesome, man. I'll wait until the end of the month to get this if I don't get it from GameFly. I already blew out my gaming budget with the BB buy 1 get one half off thing.

EXACTLY. I think any hardcore GH/RB guitarist will be disappointed in the lower difficulty in this game. The real fun for me is playing and singing at the same time. Most fun I have ever had with a music game. I am not a hardcore guitarist so I usually play guitar on medium and sing on hard. It's a total blast, as close as I'll ever come to playing live, and it feels wonderful.

Also there IS some depth in this game with the backing vocals. They are very nuanced and no one ever did it better than the Beatles. Playing guitar and sing backup vocals is what I will be doing after I finish story mode playing guitar and singing lead.

There are some terrific guitar bits in the game and McCartney has always been a master on the bass. But again, the challenge is lesser than the normal GH/RB game. This game was meant to be more of a mass appeal/party game and it's exactly the way I like it. I need more songs soon though! I hope they release individual songs (singles such as Penny Lane - awesome bass line) in between the full album releases.

The drums are fun as usual. The kit that came with the limited edition seems a bit hardier than the RB1 kit. It plays great too, but I sure miss the drum fills from RB1 (I never played RB2 but I am gonna pick it up now that I have wireless instruments). I know they wanted to stay true to Ringo's drumming and he is a solid, underrated drummer, but those fills were always a blast.

I am a Beatles' fanatic and always have been. This game is a dream come true for me. But I do think the game can be serious fun for just about anyone if they sing and play at the same time and are not looking for the difficulty of the previous GH games.

Most of the songs are short, unlike RB 1.

        Green Grass & High Tides = 9:49
Entire first show of RBB (4 songs) = 9:38
Entire second show of RBB (4 songs) = 9:05
Entire third show of RBB (5 songs) = 13:03...finally. Though this one might be off by a few seconds, not sure what version of a song they used so I used the middle one in calculating time but it's off by 5 seconds tops.

All the Metallica songs are nearly 5-7 minutes each so it should be impossible to have gone through all their songs much faster than this as in most cases it would take 2 or 3 songs from this to equal 1 by Metallica. Of course you can skip songs in that so you may get to the end faster. In fact Mercyful Fate alone is 11:12 wich wipes out either the first or second show of this by itself + another song probably.

While I'm there what the heck...

        First 4 Metallica songs = 22:35

There ya go the first 4 Metallica songs (Sad but True,Unforgiven,Enter Sandman and King Nothing) in GH Metallica are longer than the first 2 Beatles shows/8 songs combined. Can combine 2 & 3 of the Beatles and the 4 songs are longer than those 9 too.

So as I was saying...it's short and yes there's longer songs later and sure it's only a few less than some other games but overall it's still short. Such a thing would also apply to say,the Pixies album available for RB 2.

In better news I got the Gretsch today and it's the best guitar I've ever used for one of these games.

          Re: The Beatles: Rock Band

again, focusing primarily on the song length and time it takes to play the game really misses the point of the game.

Sure, a lot of their stuff is short when compared to Metallica songs. The song list and DLC support was public before release, and Harmonix likely paid a lot of money for what's in the game. It doesn't take a genius to understand why this music would cost more to license than Aerosmith or Metallica songs, yet those games still had fewer songs from the main band than this game. I somehow doubt that licensing fees of these songs really take into account the length of the songs.

I'm not focusing on it. I'm just explaining how it's short since it seems some didn't understand.

              Re: The Beatles: Rock Band

My friend and I usually butt heads over who is going to sing, and we thought that would finally be a moot argument with the addition of harmonizing...while I LOVE this game, harmonizing is ridiculously hard.

I know most Beatle's songs by heart, and I'm startin to realize that I have no knowledge of their harmonies....it's most likely that I'm not familiar enough with their backup vocals, but it's almost an octave higher or lower on most songs during harminizations...I can barely hit some of those notes and sound horrible at the same time ,but when I do, I can't hold it.

I think I just need to sack up, but if anyone has tips please help me out.

So sing the main vocals (blue) and have your friend do the back up (brown or yellow I believe).

How do you use the multipliers you have earned when you are singing? The manual is very vague explaining it.

The star power? Just make a significant/loud sound while the freestyle section is up.

That's something else improved in this. Before the arrow would be pretty much invisible during those sections so you couldn't "pre-sing" the next phrase if you weren't using star power but in this it just lights up on the top and bottom of the vocal highway without blocking the arrow. Though you may accidently activate the star power there. Suprisingly hasn't happend to me yet.

We're having a Beatles RB party on Saturday. I've got to get another mic since the Live headset doesn't work. The cheapest I've seen is $30. I'm tempted to get the $50 wireless mic. Any recommendations?

Ebay. Got another USB mic for like $6 + shipping and a USB hub for like $4.

Problem is that I need it tomorrow. I see that the wireless mic isn't compatible with Rock Band 2, so I'm not getting that one.

I found a store in my area that has the Lips game in stock. It comes with 2 wireless mics for $50. The mics aren't compatabile with RB2 (yet), but are with Beatles RB.

Gotcha. I didn't really put two and two together on that part.
