No, I'm pretty sure all of the songs are the remastered master tracks.

Stupid question #2 - how do you know when a free style section is up? Sorry, I can't find it in the manual and I have not played RB2.

Also I tried to sing harmony today. I nailed the harmony parts but it is punishing me for not singing the lead parts as well. Is this correct? I am selecting "harmony" when using the controller for the microphone. I sang a couple songs and the mic icon keeps dropping after each lead vocal part and it says "messy" at the top. I nail the harmonies but it is counting the lead vocals as well. Any ideas? I'd love to have the option to just sing harmonies when I want.

Man, if your guests are really going to get into the game you are going to have a blast. Tell them to leave any shyness or apprehension at the door. This is the ultimate party game if everyone is willing to just let go.

Go to Best Buy and get the Naked Brothers Band game. It comes with a Logitech wired mic, and it's under $10 now.

It'll be an empty part and the top and bottom of the high will light up/flash yellow. When you've got the star power the top part will be lit regardless and then when it enters the activation section the bottom blue part will light up too. They're on pretty much every vocal break.

Next to the scoring "pie" there's 3 bars.
When there's harmonies there'll be an orange/light brown, dark brown and blue song block. (or just blue and one other if there's only 2 parts)

To get a fab you have to fill up 1 of the 3 bars. What you won't get credit for is filling up 1 half way then filling up another half way. Any one of them can be filled and you'll get credit for it. If one is filled you can go for another to get a double fab rating if there's still anything left. (Wich is pretty rare.) It sounds like you're doing it right but you might not be. Only sing ONE of the harmonies OR the main lyrics until the bar is full.

This game isn't that bad at all! I'm having a blast with it, but it's certainly no $60 buy. I'll do my best to 5* everything, but beyond that I guess I couldn't play it too much more than that.

              Very nice, though.

Had three friends over tonight (one bass player, one drummer and a lead singer) and I ended up playing expert guitar and hard harmony vocals and actually did pretty decent. I had never sang and played an instrument at the same time in my entire life and was routinely getting mid 80s scores on guitar and low 90s scores on vocals simultaneously. I need more practice though. I picked up a brand new RB mic stand for 20 bucks and a used (but in mint condition) RB1 microphone for 8 bucks today. Not too shabby!

                  Re: The Beatles: Rock Band

Last night I just couldn't sleep so at around 3:00 am I turned my 360 on and popped this game in and said to myself, "Eh, I'll just play a song or two before bed."

I decided to give playing with randoms online a shot and ended up with playing with three very cool dudes. The other guitarist went DIRECTLY to choosing bass from the get go which also made me happy because I just really prefer playing guitar. Everyone played on expert besides the drummer who played on hard and we tore it up!

Time seemed to fly by, but I kept count and we played THIRTY-ONE songs together before the drummer quit. All in all I would have to say that this was truly the greatest online experience I have ever had in gaming with random people. It's absolutely incredible that the Beatles can bring together total strangers like that to spend a couple hours of their lives together and most of all, we just had fun.

                  I love this game.

We had a Beatles Rock Band party on Saturday. Everyone loved the game. Our friends that normally don't sing when we play regular Rock Band sang the Beatles. We played for about 5 hours, going through every one song once, and several 2 or 3 times.

Just finished the story mode. Five starred everything and gold starred a few.

Time to complete all of the challenges and get all of the photos. Must. Have. Trophies!

I'm amazed at you guys nailing everything on expert like it's easy. I can barely do anything respectable at hard for most songs, and have trouble on medium for many. This is my first rock band/guitar hero game. How much better can you get with practice?

depends on how hardcore you get with it. I've played every gh/rockband game out on the 360 and don't get anything lower than 4 stars on expert. I'm not gold star expert level yet though..

Not much better from THIS game. Really the hardest song in this game would probably be in the middle/high middle at best in any other game. Unless this is the only one you plan on playing then you'll be able to get really good at it. I think the only significant improvement you'll be able to pull off is on vocals.

                              Some quick tips for improving.

On slower songs, use alternate picking for parts you have already mastered. This will make the technique natural for more challenging passages.

When figuring out a section, determine whether first finger should be on the red or the green. If there is a shift, figure out where this shift occurs and make this the focus of your practice.

                              Use that pinky!

Don't shy away from hammer-on/pull off sections. Let your left hand learn the timing without the benefit of your right hand. This will tighten your overall coordination.

That is all very sound advice right there.

I'll also add that when you are not familiar with a new song's chart it is usually best to keep your index finger on the red fret button because it is a lot easier to adjust your index finger up a fret on the fly than it is to adjust your pinky finger down a fret on the fly.

Myself, I keep my index on red 90% of the time.
