a lot of people getting it early were either pirates or gaming journalists or ties to the industry and got free or trial copies.

I know you said they ended up loving it, but... why the heck did they buy it in the first place??? lol.

He didn't buy it. He gets to test games out early, and pretty much wanted to brag about having it. Actually it works out, because of the non-bias opinion he was able to look at the game critically. It was the PS3 version also, which I was very interested in hearing about.

He didn't note anything that was wrong. He said it was identical to everything he saw from the 360. But more importantly, after a day he was totally immersed in the setting and character.

I haven't read anything about fire. Any know if we can start fires? Campfires, etc. Or for the dastardly thinkers...burning buildings full of people.

Makes sense. And I can pretty much guarantee that the two versions are going to be all but identical. They usually are, and the only people who ever find/notice differences are the ones who sit there with each side by side trying to find inconsistencies. Me? Ill just be enjoying the hell out of the awesomeness that is Red Dead Redemption

you can setup camp anywhere out in the wilderness and it acts as a safehouse where you can save/sleep, or fast travel to discovered areas.
as far as the fire thing goes, I don't think you can actually burn a building down, but they do have "firebombs" aka molotov cocktails, and I shot a lantern while I was in a small shack (to see what would happen) and the corner of the room as well as myself went up in flames, but there wasn't any damage done to the shack.

yea I have a busy day Tuesday and don't wanna be up all night but I am going tomorrow night just so I can play for an hour and then from 8:30 am when the kids leave for school until 12:30

then I need to fit in 8 hours of work into 5 hours. :wink:

Has there been any discovered differences between 360/ps3 versions?
I have both consoles and i generally stick with 360 for multi platform games.

Not interested in any extra content just how the game plays.

so far both look and run spectacular with the most knowledgeable suggesting slightly lower resolution on PS3 version and less AA (other R* games)
