I just did this again (recently started a new game)... the guy you want to talk to is Pacer (if The King isn't at the third floor), depending on what your skill rank is you can use a speech challenge on him to gain access but if you don't have your speech at like 60+ you'll have to pay 50 caps to get to The King.

I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I'm about 4 hours in and loving it so far. I can see why reviews are saying it's more like a huge DLC rather than a new game because it feels almost exactly the same as FO3 but it's just more of a good thing for me.
I DL'd the patch and haven't had any freezes yet and have been saving multiple saves fairly often (PS3). So far so good.
These games eat time like few others!Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Just beat it for the first time (minimal side questing, was compelled to finish it fast so I could see the ending). Wonderful story.
Time to start anew, and play differently. What kind of character is everyone playing? Looking for ideas of how to play. I'm thinking strong and lucky, which I believe would lead to critical hits with large guns, massive amounts of damage.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I am playing with high intelligence and endurance (both at 9), with charisma and luck taking the hit. Then I use some perks to raise every other stat but luck, intelligence and endurance, then buy the implants. Skill wise I do guns (100), energy weapons (100), lockpick (80), science (80), speech (80) and split the rest between repair, medicine and survival. Reason for those skills at 80, you can use magazines to get to 100 for the odd very hard lock or computer.
One thing I hate is how the perk that allows you to run while encumbered and packrat both require high barter. It seems redundant to pay less and sell for more then get to carry more to sell. There really isn't that much you need to buy, especially if you are the scrounger type that picks up everything, which you would have to be to need either perk.
Oh, and I hit another odd bug, every time I went to pick any lock a blank computer screen covered the lock. It went away after I rebooted the game, but what was even odder is that I was still picking the locks just fine.Last edited by Burns11; 10-24-2010, 02:17 PM.Comment

Loving the game so far. Just completed Kings storyline and that was pretty cool. Got a pretty sweet "prize" out of the deal.
I've had NO freezes whatsoever. Decisions are starting to pile up, though. All I know is I hate Caeser.Michigan WolverinesChicago White SoxComment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
For anyone interested, here's a link with the location of skill books. I've found a few so far and the descriptions are spot on! To maximize the full effectiveness of these skill books its recommended that you take the comprehension perk (you get an additional point per book).

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I lost 8 hrs worth of play and all my saved corrupted after the patch. Zero issues before. To beat it all, NBA2K11 began lagging and locking up. Tried to delete and install it back to my harddrive and it would not install. Finally had to delete all Vegas files and NBA files along with removing my HD (slim) and I got NBA2K to load again and now all issues are gone. Vegas is shelved at this point as I will not let it corrupt my harddrive and other games....Comment
