Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Question about a very early quest in the game. The one where the town is protecting that dude from the powder keggers.
SpoilerHow to you find that one powder kegger that says to meet him outside of town to help them in stead of the town that's protecting him. I can't find him!PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I'm playing hardcore mode and I like it, but wonder if I'll ever get to progress very far.
nothing about it is annoying like I thought it could be, or even relevant - for example stim-packs healing over time = like 6 seconds. Ithought itwould be more like 10-15minutes.
The real challenge so far is venturing away from the starting town and having to find water. It's mildly disappointing that there are cans and buckets everywhere yet I can't fill them with water for long road ventures.
But my progression comment was about getting whipped easily by 1 smack from a deathclaw. Same from some other flying beast. I'm not sure if that's my difficulty or the hardcore mode (i had set to hard before game started and chose hardcore...not sure if that is it's own difficulty or simply a mode)
anyway, it's great fun so far...I just don't see too much opportunity to explore without leveling significantly. I wonder if there are difficulty 'zones' like fo3.
One last thing to nitpick. I was hoping to go through the game punching people and hitting them with tire irons, but imo too many people have guns in the game almost making my specialties pointless. I'll wait more to comment on this, but so far every little powder enemy save for 2 have some sort of gun...in fo3 even, i feel like there were less.
in hardcore mode so far, ammo and guns are a non-issue. Still, having a great time though.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

I was out in the middle of nowhere and all of a sudden about 5 of those orange things swarmed me and I was dead in about 5 seconds, so if I spot them I usually try to avoid them at all costs (although I have a companion now so fighting the big things isn't too hard any more).
I've only seen one deathclaw so far, but it nearly got me as well.
Also... 4 Freezes in 12.5 Hours. Not horrible, but certainly frustrating. Still, this game currently owns my soul, put in 6 hours both Tuesday and Wednesday and loving this like I did FO3, if not more.Last edited by CC; 10-21-2010, 12:08 PM.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Was it one of those Orange Wasp looking things? These and the Nightkins are the new thing to be wary of in this game.

Those things are the absolute WORST!
When did you pick up a companion - I could really use one right now.
Any chance we'll get a companion like Fawkes in this one? Because that would be awesome... I miss him.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Fawkes was an absolute beast in the last game. After he joined up with me and I didn't have any problems wandering the Capital wasteland.
SpoilerI got my first companion in the town with Dinky (Novac?). He's the night-time sniper in Dinky's mouth.xbl gamertag: n8 b 77

Follow the road from the saloon like your going to Primm and you can't miss him.
That's just another thing Bethesda got wrong that Obsidian fixed.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I will use spoilers.
SpoilerYou first meet Cass at Mojave Outpost, in the sothwest corner of the map (a quest will send you there). She is sitting at the bar in the barracks. You get to talking about how she lost her caravan, and she tells you to go work from Crimson Caravans. This is a long trip, as it's right outside of New Vegas. But, once you get there, you ask for work, and they will give you 3 or 4 errands to run. Go do the one that tells you to buy out Cass' caravan company. You will need your speech to be at or above 50 to convince her to sell. Then when she eventually caves you start talking about where she is going to go. She doesn't know what she wants to do and eventually a speech option comes up and says something along the lines of "it could be nice if you are traveling with the right company". Again speech at 50 is a necessity, and she decides that maybe you are right and decides to join your cause and is now a companion.Comment

EDIT: If you want a follower, do this one instead of the one I wrote about on the previous page, it's much quicker.Last edited by CC; 10-21-2010, 01:25 PM.Comment

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I read somewhere that you definitely want to level up bartering and speaking. Is that the consensus?Comment
