    Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I have played about 12 hours and have explored most of the southwest. I am still on the first main quest, trying to find the dude that shot me. I was in Primm last night and won about 3,000 caps playing blackjack. The casino manager kept giving me free stuff. It was sweet.

Also, I have had no issues so far (knock on wood) outside of some of the stuff you routinely saw in Fallout 3...the game just isn't very polished. Still...I can't get enough of the fallout universe.

Is this game longer then Fallout 3?

There's really no way to say, it's as long as you want to take, you can beat it fast or you can spend time exploring. I will say that there seems to be more reward for exploring in this game, there seems to be more to do and there seems to be more reasons for multiple play throughs.

For example, Fallout 3 could be beaten in under an hour or you could spend 100 hours with it. This game is much the same.

I must be the luckiest NV player on earth. I've put well over 10 hours into it and am yet to get a proper freeze. I get the occassional stutter where it freezes for about a second but i just stop moving and it catches up. This game is like crack, i'm totally addicted to it.

          Question about deathclaws:

          Spoiler
Is it just me or does this game seem a bit more difficult that FO3 (in a good way)? I'm only playing on normal and have died a few times whereas I hardly ever died in FO3.

I am such a tightass when it comes to stimpack. I have been know to 'fast travel' halfway across the map to sleep in a bed to heal myself rather than using a few stim packs.

I hope this question makes sense I don't have the game in front of me.

I'm wondering what all the ammo in the "misc." section of items is? Like the prine shotgun ammo or whatever it's called. I have a ton of ammo in it and gun powder I think but it has zero weight or value. Can this stuff be used for anything, like actual ammo?

              Visit a reloading bench.

Oh, and the patch released for PS3, seeing I've had very few problems I'm going to pass for now.

                Thanks.

I'm not sure if I will download the patch. I had my 2nd freeze tonight but I'm a veteran Fallout player so I saved literally a minute before it happened so no big deal. I'll wait and hear some impressions on the patch before I do anything, if it's anything like the 360 patch I'm staying away from it.

For anyone that hasn't hit Vault 34 yet, I suggest looking for it. You'll see why. I spent about an hour and a half in the vault, but wound up with some serious "prizes".

                  Spoiler

I feel like i'm doing pretty darn good for myself. I've had 10,000 plus caps for a while now just in selling guns and ammo that I scavenge. Plenty of all ammo types to last me until probably the end of the game. Some awesome sets of armor (T-51B Power Armor being the best). Some crazy high powered weapons. The best part is, even doing this well, I still feel challenged in areas. Deathclaws are still a pain, along with some of the other high level characters. Such a great game.

What is the max experience level again? Wasn't it 20 on FO3 then they patched it to go up to level 30?

When you advance in level I thought you choose a new perk everytime? When I advanced to level 4 or 5 I'm not sure which level, but it never allowed to me to pick a perk for advancing.

who is playing hardcore mode? does it seem like the enemies are super tough on this level and they seem to put tougher enemies in places where they wouldn't otherwise be. For example, there is one place that is fairly innocuous where there are 3 giant radiscorpions who kill you with like one or two hits. In the guide, it doesn't even warn you of these creatures. I am totally avoiding combat right now.
