i tihnk it would be a little ridiculous to charge people for thsi game considering that you more then liekly wont be part of the mob, or the one.

I agree with TJ, and even once heard this rumor. Gold will still be free, but silver can buy a season pass and play the game just like Gold does. It's their way of trying to get more people into the game, and if you just want to play this game and nothing else really on Live, it's cheaper than a Gold sub.Comment

They'd be lucky to get 10k people if you have to pay IMO. Maybe not that low, but they'd see a drastic cut in numbers.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I agree with you both. I don't think they'd have a massive open public beta if it was going to cost gold members money. I could see them charging 10 bucks or something to silver members who only want to play this yearly. Seeing as how it's so advertiser driven, they want more people playing and it'd be dumb to cut your players down by a ton by charging a fee.

Stil, MS has been using careful words when talking about the future of 1 vs 100 though. It even sounds like they're fully open to charging for it.

"We're launching Season One as a Beta. So, just like TV shows have pilot seasons, we're going to get a lot of information from our first season then take it from there. In the first season, the beta season, it will be free to our Gold subscribers."
Reading between the lines this could mean that when Season Two goes out to all Xbox LIVE subscribers that there could be fees involved. Perhaps this will apply to Silver subscribers who don't pay the annual subscription to enjoy online versus gaming and other social functions available to Gold. However Chee is guarded on this point for now: "We don't have anything to announce other than the first season at the moment. We're treating it like the TV shows treat a pilot, and we're absolutely hoping that it will be successful. We haven't decided on the business model yet, all we know is that when we launch this game it will be free to Gold subscribers."Last edited by bkfount; 06-18-2009, 02:53 PM.Comment

I think that asking Silver members to pay and still have it be free for Gold members is fair and a smart move by Microsoft. It could entice some Silver members to fork up for a Gold membership.Comment
