Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
I like the multiplayer a lot... but I like MP in a lot of shooters. I can't say that BlackOps held my interest that long. I play a lot of shooting games, from downright realistic Project Reality, Arma, to games like this... and I think if you know what you're getting in to the MP aspect of this game is quite fun.Comment

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
Just slow down your gameplay, and practice using your Armor/Cloak abilities... until it get's to the point where you have it memorized when to use them. Once you learn how to conserve your energy the game will open up for you.Minnesota Vikings

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
Still trying to work on that myself. Always have a tendency to try to move too fast, and always shooting out of cloak which drains energy instantly. Trying to get used to switching to armor from cloak when I start shooting. Had a lot of 0-13 type games, finally starting to get towards an even k/d ratio each game.Comment

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
OK... So I'm not good at this game at all. I think I have to stop playing Halo in order to really appreciate this game. I like the concept, I just am not good at it at all. The problem is, I can't stop playing Halo Reach.
We'll see how it goes...Moderator

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
the Making of Crysys 2... really good stuff if you are into the technical side..
"GPU side, when programmed properly, they are fairly similar. We just have to be conscious of the clear handicap on PS3 RSX in terms of vertex processing, but other than that, on fragment processing side they are relatively similar, both have their strengths but such differences become irrelevant in the long run, especially when compared to PC platforms,"
"The SPUs do indeed allow for easing the workload for the RSX. We decided not to go too crazy in this direction as it requires render targets and assets to reside in main memory. We are able to run skinning for example on SPUs as well, but we could not afford the additional memory required in the end.
It is possible to use the SPUs to support deferred shading, run post-process effects and do triangle culling. But again, it all requires main memory we did not have as our levels are fairly large compared to other games and our SPUs were in fact pretty loaded with particles, animations, physics, low-level rendering and culling already."
"The 1152x720 resolution on 360 simply allows you to maximize eDRAM usage on a deferred lighting engine without having to resort to tiled rendering.
On the PS3, due to the extremely limited system memory we resorted to downloading memory into video memory.
We bumped into severe video memory limitations, so it was a good compromise to save a big chunk of video memory for other usages. Plus, while on consoles we are CPU-bound during combat due to physics, AI, etc, on less intensive situations on the PS3 we are GPU-bound, so the additional quick 10 per cent performance gain was also very welcome."Comment

as noted many times and often misunderstood, RAM is the key limiting factor to the current systems... hope the next gen has 4 GB of RAM. Much more important than media disc size for top tier graphics with large worldsLast edited by Tiko7523; 04-21-2011, 12:41 AM.Miami Dolphins

Re: Crysis 2 coming to consoles
Man, this game has really grown on me. I'm a BIGGG stealth fan so i was intrigued by the gameplay of Crysis 2. But during my first few hours on Veteran difficulty (2nd highest) .....the cloak feature I thought was too powerful in dealing with these human soldiers. I shoot, one dies, I cloak, relocate, shoot again, rinse and repeat. I just didn't feel any tension and felt that the cloak feature can just be abused the whole game, especially with my style, slow and methodical. Even when exposed to 5 soldiers, I quickly re-cloak and get away from danger.
Restarted the game now with the highest difficulty and boy has it changed the game....the human and alien foes now are a much bigger threat since you can't afford to use the previous tactic of shoot cloak hide shoot....you expose yourself in front of 2-3 soldiers nearby and more times than not....you're dead (less bullets to kill you and higher enemy awareness).
So this opens up the gameplay for me....the difficulty level forces me to become even more judicious with the cloak as one misstep can mean death. The time to attack becomes more crucial...you quickly shoot one enemy with a silenced gun, but that shot uncloaks you, and bam bullets from all over will catch you and that's it. So instead of shooting when the first kill- opportunity presents itself....it forces you to think....ok let's shoot nearby a wall, so once i'm uncloaked from that one shot, I can use the wall as my cover...re-charge my energy and stay unseen.
this is just one example how you need to plan your attack.
Another example is to use your grenades as diversion. I'm facing 2-3 enemies on the bridge....I'm hidden behind a truck with the enemies approaching me. I throw a grenade over their head, and they will then investigate the explosion. I then proceed to shoot the last man walking from behind in the head, and take care of the rest without any notice.
Another is when there are 4 enemies out in the open, and you're in a room, and you'd like to take care this guy near your doorway.....you grab something, throw it in the room, draw the guard INSIDE the room, and proceed to knife him in the throat. Your exit out of the room is much safer, and you can avoid the 3 remaining guards altogether.
This I've experienced in just the first 3 levels in the game ,and the reviewers says the game gets much better after that.Comment
