Re: Halo: Reach
Reading impressions it seems some are having trouble adjusting to the feel. A lot of people are saying it feels very different from previous Halo games - less floaty, more weight, change to melee, gun play being more rhythmic (it's not just about holding down the trigger or pushing it as fast as you can anymore).
All that stuff sounds great to me. Monday needs to hurry up and get here!Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

I like Powerhouse quite a bit but Sword Base is kind of iffy.PSN: NyydusComment

Re: Halo: Reach
Ok after about an hour of play time here are my impressions:
- Grenades are deadly! One will literally about kill you.
- Sword base IMO isn't very good. To clustered.
- Pistol is back baby, it literally feels great.
- You have weight, jumps decrease and you do feel lower to the ground.
- Each gun feels different, rockets feel heavy while pistol feels light.
- Assasinations are awesome.
- So far the jet pack seems useless unless your on sword base. Your one big target basically.
- Sprint is really handy.
- Armor lock I have a feeling is going to be treeked in the retail game. It does have disavantages, try to time your frag.
If there is any other questions just post and I will try to answer as best I can.Last edited by Candyman5; 04-30-2010, 03:18 AM.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Its great, still learning though. This is a learning curve and its obviously there is a much bigger skill gap than in H3.Comment

Re: Halo: Reach
That's being said by many on the MLG forums too. Considering the amount of hate Halo 3 gets over there, it's been a little surprising to read the amount of praise for the Reach beta.
Originally posted by HaviiiikHaving played it I will say that bloom is significant and the game is very similar to Shadowrun in that regard. Shooting the single shot weapons is much harder, but you can hit people with the pistol from across the map. I have five shotted people with both the DMR and pistol from across both powerhouse, and sword base, and while its hard to do, its possible and not random. You can hit people at ranges that weren't even possible in LAN Halo 3 with perfect accuracy as long as you time the shots. If you don't time shots in this game and spam the trigger, you will hit nothing, and you will get **** on by someone who does. Bungie brought the skill gap back with this game.Originally posted by FraGTaLiTyThe aiming isn't sluggish (I can finally play on 5 sensitivity again as I did for h1 and h2), the DMR and Pistol take a lot of skill to kill and have very good range . The shooting seems very consistent if you time your shots. This game is a blast. Although the load-out is different, I think it adds a new dynamic to team play that will enhance the skill gap. Once MLG increases the running speed, this game will be a great competitive title. It's a mix between Halo 1 and Shadowrun.
This is coming from a guy who loves Halo 1 to death, loved Halo 2 (but not as much as Halo 1), and despises Halo 3.
...
The good news, though, is that you can melee MUCH faster and each melee does less damage. In that sense, there is a bit more button mashing skill required to out beatdown someone. Because of this, the melee system is still leaps better than Halo 3, but insuperior to Halo 1's and Halo 2's melee system since it still holds your hand.
...
Another thing I am really happy about is the field of view. In Halo 1, you saw more. In Halo 2 and Halo 3, your field of view was much more narrow. In Halo Reach, the game goes back to its roots, giving the player more field of view that is nearly identical to Halo 1's.
...
Also swat is a real test of accuracy now, you can't sweep the aimer over the head for an easy kill ala the halo 3 BR.
...
I am very pleased with the game as-is. It is already a massive improvement over Halo 3. I think with some slight changes, it can rival Halo 1, which seems to be unanimously the favorite of the series.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Halo: Reach
Double beatdown has to go. The time it takes you to melee twice is way to short. Maps like Sword Base just turn into an all out Melee fest.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os
