          Halo: Reach Live Action Short

          The live-action marketing for Halo 3 was top notch, from the stellar Believe campaign to Neill Blomkamp's preview of what could have been in Landfall. So, we're understandably excited for Halo: Reach to get the same treatment in "Birth of a Spartan," a new live-action short directed by Noam Murro, the man behind the underrated 2008 romantic comedy Smart People. Yes, you're right, it sounds like a perfect fit.

          Detailing the procedure that takes Carter 259 from zero to Spartan hero, the short will be available online, on US and UK TV, in movie theaters ... well, it's going to be hard not to see it. Let's just put it that way.

          Look for a 60-second version to premiere April 27 in the US during V (at 10 p.m. EST) and on the UK's Sky Sports 2 at the full time whistle of the semi-final between Lyon and Bayern Munichand, which kicks off at 7:45 BST. It'll be on the trailer's official site that night and a two-minute-thirty-second version will appear on Xbox Live for Gold members the next day. Like we said: Hard to avoid.

                Yeah, the sword had a power bar/ammo counter in multiplayer in Halo 3, at least. It was out of 100.

                            -Control of the character has a different feel. Feels more like you actually have weight, takes a little getting used to.
                            -The spartan models are shorter and you can tell. Feels much lower to the ground.
                            -Most of the gametypes in the beta outside of invasion and generator defense are Assault rifle and pistol start.
                            -Technically very very impressive. The visuals and audio are pretty amazing.
                            -Most impressive part of the game to me is the weapon sandbox. Gone is the one weapon game (BR). The weapons are all useful in someway and the weapons stay true to there intended range of usefulness.
                            -Even the weapons that were in H3 that are Reach are significantly changed (for the most part), so you'll want to test them all out.
                            -Armor abilities are not a "gimmick" like Halo 3's equipment. They change the way you play the game. Most impressively, some of the armor abilities change the way you think about player movement in and out of combat.
                            -Hitboxes (especially headshot hitboxes) are smaller (for spartans), and the weapons are tuned more to reward accuracy than in past halo games. Hiding in that assault rifle is a remarkably accurate gun if you shoot in short, carefully aimed bursts.
                            -Grenades are very powerful, but there are much less of them on the map.

                            Those are just some basic thoughts off the top of my head. If you guys have more specific questions fire away.

                                Yeah I just saw that. The longer the beta is, the more it prevents Bungie from finishing the game though, so it makes sense.

                                They extended the H3 beta from the original end date, so we can at least hope for more.
