How can you tell if it's a dedicated server or not?

I want the gnome acheivement.

Once you're in a lobby its in the game details, right under the map and stuff like that. The host can change it.

I agree with sportsdude, local server is the way to go for now. Hopefully official server issues will be resolved soon.

I'm loving this game so far. I haven't tried Parish yet, but have completed all the other ones. Dark Carnival is tough. Hard Rain is my favorite so far though. Scavenger mode is a blast, we'll definitely need to get some OS games going.

I have only played the first four campaigns and Hard Rain is my favorite.

and dookie, you can any achievement in single player or with other people, unless of course it's a versus/scavenge mode achievement. About the lag, I've have a lot of success avoiding games with dedicated servers. If you join a lobby with a dedicated server, tell the host to switch it to local host server, and there you go.

Do you have to start at the beginning each time to get achievements? For example I keep dying on final scene, I need to go so I cut it off. Next time I fire it up you can select what scene to start at. Can I pick the last scene where I left offf. Or do I have to start at the beginning ? Also do you get acievements no matter what level you beat it on, or only on advanced?

I wish I knew that myself. I got an achievement on The Parish for beating the first four sections at one time and later beating the finale by itself. However I did not get the achievement on Dark Carnival when I tried the same thing.

Yeah. Same thing here. I did 4 sections of Swamp Fever, but when to do the last one again after dying I didn't get the achievement.

BTW Sportsdude I was gaming with your roomate last night. I just hopped into a game with your Gamertag. He definitely needs some work when it comes to L4D.

normally he is OK at it, but he was extremely intoxicated when he was playing last night. I'm not sure how he played in the first place, I basically had to help him turn on the xbox, sign in to xbox live, show him how to wear the headset and how to send out a party invite, and those are all things he's done multiple times before.

Yeah, he seemed a little drunk. I'd be like "Pounding I'm down over here." and repeat it like 7 times before he'd be like "Look Chubby's Down!"

lol no it wasn't him. the one that shouts "boom" all the time is terrible at the game whether he's sober or not.

Was SO close to finishing the finale of The Parish tonight on Advanced. Almost had it in the end. Will have to try again tomorrow.

Good campaign but Swamps is my favorite.
