Re: Best Video Game Ending?
A lot of people ask me that question, but it really depends on how you perceive it. I mean, honestly, you can play the game and understand somewhat what happens in previous games due to flashbacks and how well they describe the past...but I'm warning you it is very complicating.Comment

Re: Best Video Game Ending?
I barely understood it and I've played all the games multiple times.
I'd buy MGS 1 and 3 instead. You can probably find both for 5-10 dollars each.Comment

Re: Best Video Game Ending?
Games 1 and 3 contain self contained stories that are rational and very good.
The last 2 hours or so of 2 and the entire story of 4 are pure fan service and filled with more "WTF" and "Okay..." moments per hour than any David Lynch movie could ever hope to have. The story becomes incredibly convoluted with numerous hilarious moments (your support character cries the entire game after any reference of a female is made and another character lives on...THROUGH MY ARM!), but if you haven't been attempting to follow it (reading a summery might make you more confused), it's not worth it.
And 4 contains a 25 minute introduction and every chapter has a 30-45 minute series of cutscenes. If you don't know the story and won't really get excited with "Oh, there's yet another ninja. And he's that guy. Why did they bring him back, nobody liked him...?" moments, I'd skip the cutscenes and enjoy the beautiful graphics.Comment

The orginal games are available for DL now off the psn aren't they? My ps3 isn't backwards compatible so i wouldnt be able to pick up the old ps2 games and play them.
thanks again for the info.Comment

Re: Best Video Game Ending?
If I had to choose one, I'd say COD4. But Mass Effect is very close, and Portal's up there as well.
If Bioshock would have been wrapped up properly with the 'would you kindly' cutscene, that would have been far and away the greatest ending in any video game ever. But instead they blew their entire load far too early and the game was all downhill from there.
I thought GTA4's ending was terrible because not only was it the culmination of a number of hours that were just horribly tacked on to the story to try and pad the game length, but I also couldn't shake the feeling that when I made that choice near the end that they were going to kill off the person I chose because I chose that person, and I was right. Just a terribly artificial way to wrap a game up.
My least favorite ending of all time, however, is probably Shadow Hearts: Covenant. The twist that the third wheel in the love triangle developed throughout the game is actually seemingly your time-travelling mom was so freaking bizarre and just out of left field. Terrible ending to an otherwise brilliant game.
The twist in Star Ocean: Til the End of Time, though, nearly beats that one out. That single-handedly caused me to completely and totally lose all interest in a game I was otherwise enjoying a great deal.Comment

Re: Best Video Game Ending?
Play the first one....and then the 3rd. Honestly they are the two greatest games ever made IMO, and MGS1 is the best PSX game ever made according to most people. (Someone's gonna argue ff7)Comment

Re: Best Video Game Ending?
I'm going to have to say that best ending of all time has to go to "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City". Tommy Vercetti really can deliver the best in this whole GTA series. Vercetti kills Lance Vance. Then he takes out his former boss Sonny. Truely a great ending to a great game.
