    Re: Rock Band 3

At first I wasn't a big fan of the track list, but as I play the songs, I'm liking it more. RB2 had the most songs that I would listen to outside of the game, but I'm enjoying playing songs I would probably never listen to outside of the game.

Ok, so I keep going back and forth on whether or not I should get this today. I want the keys SO bad, but I keep thinking that I don't really need them and should hold off. I get the keys and the game for around $110 with my discount at Best Buy, but I can't get myself to pull the trigger. Is the game good enough I should just do it?

I'll definitely pickup New Order, maybe Talking Heads, and possibly a Bon Jovi song or two. Got to add to the keyboard compatable library.

I'll definitely get the Bon Jovi songs. It kind of stinks that we have to rebuy 3 of the songs we possibly already have, but my wife will enjoy playing the keys on those songs.

Yeah, I was hoping with the songs we already had it would be possible to just pay the .99 to get the pro keys/guitar add on instead of paying 2.99 and having 2 versions of the same song.

Oh well, in this case it's not too big a deal for me. I'm not much of a Bon Jovi fan but I'll probably get Bad Medicine though. Already got the Deftones/New Order/Talking Heads tracks through pre-ordering.

Not for the Bon Jovi (b/c they are exports), but HMXHenry clarified this and said in the future you WOULD be able to just add pro guitar/bass to your previously DL'ed RB1/RB2 DLC tracks.

                        Re: Rock Band 3

                        Hey gang,

Sorry for the confusion surrounding the DLC announcement this week. The information I posted earlier may not have been the most helpful, partially because it wasn’t entirely correct. A lot has happened in the last two hours. The long and short of it is that we’re going to have new RB3 files that add keys and harmonies as well as add-on content that enables Pro Guitar and Pro Bass. The new information is that the add-ons for Pro G/B should be available for both the new RB3 file and your existing file.

To be clearer, this means there will be three files you can download in the future for Legacy DLC songs where Pro Guitar/Pro Bass is being made available:

                        · The new “RB3 Version” of a song, including traditional GBDV, keys (pro and regular) and harmony vocals
                        · A “Pro Guitar/Pro Bass” upgrade for that “RB3 Version”, allowing you to have the whole experience
                        · A “Pro Guitar/Pro Bass” upgrade for legacy “RB2 era DLC”. This will skip Keys and Harmonies being added (those are only in the “RB3 Version”, but allow you to purchase the Pro Guitar/Bass add-on without rebuying the core song file.

To reiterate, if you stick with your RB2 legacy track and want to upgrade to pro guitar/bass – you will not have access to Keys, Pro Keys or harmony vocals. If you want that latter content, you need to purchase the “RB3 Version” of the file.

As for the Bon Jovi tracks coming out next week, you’ll currently only be able to get the Pro Guitar / Bass upgrades for the RB3 Versions of the tracks, but moving forward you should see Pro Guitar/Bass upgrade options for legacy re-releases. We’ll update this thread when we have a timeline for those add-ons. Sorry again for the mix up, and I’ll continue to clarify in this thread as more questions pop up.
Kind of sucks because that's shelling out $2 more for what I already own. If they allowed me to get Keys/Pro Keys/Harmonies for $1, I'd be a little better with it.

There was also a sing along on You Give Love a Bad Name.

                          So im not sure.

Yea it seems like those are the only songs that have it, and even then its not as good as it was in RB2 imo. I mean I'm not complaining because its nice that its not completely gone I just wish it wasn't as subdued.

Those were definitely my favorite parts about RB2 so the way it sounds now was kind of a bummer..

Random thought: maybe the addition of the keyboard is responsible for the loss of the singalongs? Maybe the game can't handle that many different synchronized audio tracks at once, and Harmonix decided to add the keyboard and its required separate audio track over keeping the singalongs' required audio track.

Pure speculation, but it makes some sort of sense to me.
