    Re: Brink (360/PS3/PC)

Looks like we are down to less then 10 hardcore players of the game here.

Sorry but I disagree about COD and think you are at the point where you are trying to justify your purchase.

When I play COD with my friends, we are communicating and we do dramatically better then when lone wolfing it on our own. It is also fun to see how good teams will play maps..they can use many strategies with those weapons. How they hold down choke spots, set their claymores..jammers..etc is dramatically different from team to team.

There is a reason that everyone still plays the game and usually there are 500,000 plus people online at any given time. It may not be perfect, but it is still the top console FPS by far and has not been topped yet. Maybe Battlefield will do it..maybe a new Rainbow6...I don't know, but it will not be Brink.

Really? You don't think COD has milked the teet dry? This is the first year in a while that I have absolutely no plans to buy COD at all.

COD = really cute chick who you meet late night and take home with you to play around...after several weeks the thrill is gone and you realize this chick has no substance so you move on to something else. you might call her over once in a while late at night when you're bored, but it won't ever amount to more then that.

Battlefield & (hopefully with this week's Patch) Brink = chick who u actually connect with who makes you start thinking long term plans

I think what phobia is trying to say is the first chick always looks fine and grabs your attention from the start and knows how to market herself but the 2nd chick might not be as attractive or have her boobs pushed up and it might take you a while to realize how much value she really has.

If you love the "club scene" then COD is your game. If you're tired of it...you're more likely to put in the hours into a game like Brink, even if it isn't as smooth or as crisp off the jump.

I'm sorry but if you are going to compare girls and nightlife to games then it's going to be tough to have a discussion...lol.

COD has given a ton of my friends and I replay value for years. It may not be what you want, but the #s do not lie. It is a very successful game when there are other options for FPS. A hot girl with no substance has nothing to do with COD in any way. Those are called rentals.

I can see how you could be tired of COD. I take breaks from gaming and then come back. I can't just game all the time personally. So when I come back to COD for a new map pack..etc..it always delivers in terms of enjoyment. Would I like to see a new FPS change the game? Sure...but it's not going to be Brink. Regardless of what the next patch does.

No point in discussing this honestly.

              You = Dislike game
Me and Others = Think its a excellent change of pace from other shooters and a FUN game

Everything is subjective to personal perspective. I personally feel Brink is a fantastic game. There are some naggin issues that will be resolved with a patch, like the lag issues. But outside of these issues, the core gameplay is fantastic and FUN as hell.

This. There is nothing wrong with COD and it is a fun game, but there have also been like 5 versions of that game with a bunch of clones sprinkled in between.
Getting dudes to use teamwork in that game is extremely hard because it is NOT mandatory.
In BRINK teamwork is pretty much mandatory and feels more like a sport game as a result.

We can agree that the game is enjoyable for some people, but the numbers don't really mean much to me. I bought the game myself then i sold it 2 months later for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. Millions of people bought Britney Spears albums. I wasn't one of them.

And rentals aren't the hot girls, those are ugly girls you go after when it's last call

Fair enough man. Honestly if brink's patch doesn't deliver I may go back to COD or BFBC2 for the summer.

I agree with you on everything except I don't bang ugly girls..lol.

Well I now have a GF, so my game has slipped. If we broke up, I probably would have to lower my standards out of the gates.

So I guess we completely agree..

On a weird side note, I am interested in what Duke Nukem forever will be like, even though my gut tells me "gimmick".

My gut doesn't say gimmick, but a game that will feel dated by today's standards of FPS.

Two overlooked abilities I've been using a lot lately:

-- Firewalling command posts as covert ops

-- Upgrading command posts as engineer

If your team can capture and hold a health command post with the two-bar upgrade, it's a huge advantage! I was on a team earlier today that had the two-bar health command post buffs and a medic in the field dealing out two-bar health boosts.

Running around with four extra health bars, our team was pretty much untouchable!

                          BIG NEWS:

Today we’ve got some exciting news to share about two big Brink updates in the works.

First up, the statistics site will be going live next Tuesday for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players. PC players can look forward to it going up very soon. This site, located at brinkthegame.com, will be your hub for in-depth stats, including data on matches, players and the overall progress in the weekly Battle for the Ark. Check out the screenshot above for a sneak peek and dig up that VIP code as you’ll need it to register once the stats page is live.

On top of that, the Agents of Change DLC is just on the horizon, slated for release in June. The pack will bring new maps, abilities, character customization options and weapon attachments to Brink, while also raising the level cap to 24. Here’s a full list of the DLC content:

                          New Maps

Founders’ Tower – The revolution finally reaches the island’s iconic spire and takes the battle for the Ark to dizzying heights.

Labs – Venture into the depths of the Ark’s original research and development laboratories, a submerged high-tech facility so far untouched by the civil war.

                          New Player Abilities

UAV – This stealthy and lethal device allows Operatives to automatically mark nearby enemies on their radar. For more explosive fun, they can even take direct control of the UAV and detonate it near unsuspecting foes.

Napalm Grenade – Soldiers can use this new grenade to cover an area in a sea of deadly flames.

Pyro Mine – Engineers can plant these mines and leave enemies in the epicenter of a massive napalm explosion.

Field Regen Unit – Medics can deploy these units to increase the health regeneration of any nearby teammates.

Tactical Scanner – This universal ability allows players to reveal the active buffs of their opponents, allowing them to pick off enemies more strategically.
                          New Weapon Attachments

Bayonets – Gain the edge in melee combat and cause extra damage with these deadly blades.

Weapon Shields – Take cover from enemy fire and prevent headshot bonus damage behind riot-style shields.

                          New Character Outfits

The Sad Punk – Add a touch of Steampunk to your Resistance character.

The Limey – Bring order to the Ark with this outfit inspired by traditional European police.

In addition to these updates, we’re happy to let you know that the updates we described last week will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this weekend.
                          So lag update this weekend!

Then the stats site goes live Tuesday.

And in June, we get a butt-load of free DLC and the level cap goes up to 24!

I just downloaded it. only was able to play one game. it still occasionally did get laggy but it was always before it migrated hosts which is acceptable. i just hate when the host migration occurs you start back at your base.
