Re: Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection (PS3/360)
Very nice. Can't wait to get my hands on this one. I think I'll buy two, my Brother-in-law loves pinball but really doesn't play his PS3. This may give him a reason to crack it open.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. I'm going to have to pick this up. I use to work for Data East/Sega Pinball for 6 years. When Medieval Madness came out, oue engineers got one to "steal some ideas" off it. On every break and sometime during work hours, we played it until the engineers got tired of us play the competitions game. So they got rid of it.Boy this habit is as bad as dope!!!

I'm very tempted...I almost got the xbla one last month. To me it's either one or the other....if I can get it for 29, I'll get this...if it's 49 that would be too much imo.
it's not just replay...it's the development costs too. Making this game is nothing like making Mass Effect if you know what I mean...so the production values should match the retail price, otherwise it's kind of stingy of them.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Yeah I'd like to see some immpressions as well. It's gonna be a few weeks before I can get this one (read: lack of funds) but I can't wait to get my hands on it.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Not sure how good my impressions can be, but it's pinball. The tables are good, if you've played any previous Williams game then you know what to expect. It's the best they have looked easily, adding in best sounding, and they are pretty realistic. The ball moves very realistically as well. The sounds really impressed me though, feels like the original pinball games. When you're walking around the arcade, some terrible 80's type music is playing with a DJ talking about it. LOL, kinda funny. There's 13 tables, but 1 is locked at the start.
The achievements/trophies are going to be HARD. Each table has 5 goals that have to be completed, that's the first achievement, then there's 5 new goals, that are harder that open up, for achievement #2. That would also get your achievement #3 for beating the table. Each table is set up that way.
For $30, it's a lot of fun for pinball. It's better than Pinball FX on the 360 only because these are tables I played in local arcades as a kid, where Pinball FX is all fantasy, videogame tables. If you're satisfied with Pinball FX, and not a huge pinball junkie, then maybe pass, but for me, you can never have enough pinball.
For those wondering, it's a 1.1GB install to the 360's HDD for the entire game. This could have easily been an XBLA/PSN game.Comment

Thanks EG that was perfect. I think I'm going to go out this weekend and pick it up. I just can't wait. Gotta have it. I love pinball. I still have all the original Pinball games that came out for the PS1. And still play them....including KISS Pinball and a rare Austin Powers pinball.Last edited by Chef Matt; 09-23-2009, 09:42 AM.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. I'll have my copy on Friday . . . so I can get some more pinballing fun."We were expecting a miracle with Elite, but instead we got Jesus at halfcourt."

Do you have Pure Pinball for the PC? Those tables probably aren't real, but they're a lot of fun - a military themed one, a racing one, and a train one. I picked it up on ebay a few years ago for 10 bucks.

Thanks for those impressions EG. I am going to try to pick this one up today, if I can pull myself away from the Uncharted 2 Beta.Comment
