Re: The Pokemon Thread
Finally opened my 3DS XL and popped this in. About an hour in, and having a blast so far. I tried out the Wonder Trade and got an Axew for a Weedle. Feel bad for ripping that guy off haha.
Here's my friend code if anyone wants it. I really want to swap for a Squirtle and Bulbasaur eventually.

Re: The Pokemon Thread
So here's a question that shows just how long I've been away from this franchise:
When did double battles become a thing? I was never really satisfied with the one on one nature of the battles (and really, that's the big reason I didn't play it past the first generation). Love the feeling of controlling a party and how much deeper the combat strategy can get.
I assume this exists in multiplayer as well?
I've also run across a couple of horde battles (including one that I didn't trigger with Honey - that was a surprise). I may be finding the game easy on the whole so far, but those are no joke if your team is underleveled.Last edited by bcruise; 10-22-2013, 06:21 PM.Comment

Re: The Pokemon Thread
Double battles...I believe that was Gen 3 with Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald? They were really interesting when first introduced and I certainly agree that they make things more interesting. Has anyone tried to do these new Sky battles that are around yet? I haven't had enough Pokemon that would be eligible in my party when I come across them.So here's a question that shows just how long I've been away from this franchise:

Re: The Pokemon Thread
I'm only up to that Mansion they send you to get the PokeFlute from and I'm amazed already at the sheer amount of diversity in cool Pokemon. I have one box already filled up, and I just encountered a Honedge (cool sword type Pokemon) and an Espurr. (Psychic kitty?) Caught both, so now I'm going to go ahead and raise those up and figure out how to work those into my rotation.
I have all these in around the level 19-21 range: Frogadier, Fletchinder, Pikachu, Kadabra, Ralts, Pancham, Doduo, Roselia, and Marill.Minnesota Vikings

Re: The Pokemon Thread
In any other game with exp. share my Pokemon would be unstoppable. This one inspires me to change it up a bit. I'm at Frost Cavern now
With a
lvl 43 Galvantula
lvl 57 Delphox
lvl 50 Ferrothorn
lvl 47 Swanna
lvl 53 Raichu
lvl 32 Gengar
My Galvantula was a lvl 1 yesterday. It doesn't take long with exp. share.Comment

I remember one where all my pokemon were around level 20 (like 17-21 range) and the horde was about level 5. I almost got smoked.
I'd get paralyzed then hit with 4-5 -atk/-spatk moves and even though I was super outleveled for the encounter I'd do no damage when I did get a move off. I came thisclose to death on that one and never took a horde battle lightly since.badComment

Re: The Pokemon Thread
I managed to catch that Snorlax, felt pretty good about it (I don't think I ever caught the one in Red). There are others that can be found later in the wild if you miss it though, right?Comment

Re: The Pokemon Thread
I don't believe so. I think he's one of the one-off shots you get at catching him.
Possibly... possibly in the Friend Safari. Don't know for sure on that one though.badComment
