Re: Dead Space 2
I've played it for about 2 hours so far. At the moment, I am kinda disappointed. Please note, the original Dead Space was my Game of the Year when it came out. But so far, the sequel is leaning a lot more on the action elements as well as the "boo" scares and monster closets. Some of it bordering on just plain cheap.
I miss the slower pace and more atmospheric vibe of the original.Comment

I've put in about another 2 hours and I've enjoyed these two more than the first. Just experienced a pretty intense sequence.Comment

Re: Dead Space 2
This Is The Wii's Wonderful Dead Space On The PS3
've captured portions of Extraction's first level, as it is rendered on the PlayStation 3. I got the game as part of the Dead Space 2 PS3 collector's edition (the $80 version.) You can also get the game bundled with the "Limited Edition," I'm told. That version sells for $60.
Extraction didn't look that much rougher on the Wii than it does on the PS3. As far as I'm concerned, the game is attractive on either system, thanks in no small part to strong architectural art direction and excellent camera work. The game is almost entirely on-rails, so think of it as a glorified light-gun shooter. I guarantee, though, that you won't feel like you're merely in some pop-up shooting gallery should you play the game. You control it with a PlayStation Move, which behaves much as the Wii Remote did.Comment

Wow I thought a lot more people would be playing this game on OS. I was waiting for some good reviews here before I bought this.Comment

Re: Dead Space 2
My initial impressions after about 2 hours:
- Unlike the first campaign - there is no slow build to the action. About 8 seconds after the credits roll the action unfolds (and I died
) The *bleep* has already hit the fan and Isaac is smack dab in the middle of it.
- Isaac talks! I immediately felt more of a connection this go round. no more silent protagonist.
- If it aint broke - don't fix it. Same Dead Space you know and love - just more of it.
- Audio - EXCELLENT.
- Graphics - 1080P on the PS3 - I appreciate that EA!
- This series bears a strong resemblance to the Aliens franchise (movie). That's a good thing for me. This game is scary - but make no mistake about it. This time around it is an action game that just happens to be scary.
- The one drawback - I just didn't have time to be scared. I felt like I was running for my life most of the time. A small complaint for me really. I just remember the first game you spent so much time alone in long corridors with nothing but errant sounds and screams to accompany you. The tension was real. Frightened as I was - I miss those quiet moments playing Dead Space 2 - because that's where the game really shines.
- I am only about 90 minutes in but the train sequence? Just sick.
- Included on the PS3 version I got - You get a graphically overhauled version of Dead Space Extraction (PlayStation Move FTW!)
Thumbs up from me.Comment

Re: Dead Space 2
Been thinking of picking this game up. Just wondering if I should play the first one or jump right into this one? Anything monumental from the first game that I need to play or could I just check on Wiki for the first game and jump into Dead Space 2?
From hearing that Dead Space 2 is just similar stuff to Dead Space, but more refined make me think I should just play 2.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Dead Space 2
Dead Space Extraction is fun and the best reason so far to own the PlayStation Move. It packs an interesting story, tight controls and a ton to do for its nominal price. I wish it had a few more PS3 bells and whistles and didn't lose steam at times, but I enjoyed the ride.Comment
